Since the Colts have won, we will play the chargers if we win, and not the Ravens. Is this good or bad? I would say probably good b/c of the Ravens defense and the fact that Rivers is a rookie.
Well Rivers isnt a rookie and SD's defense is one of the best. Both Teams will be very tough matchups.
I see him as a rookie b/c this is his first year actually playing. Tea, the chargers D is very good also, but not as good as Baltimore.
This is so awesome if we win. Living here in SD, I'm definitely going to the game, just like 2 years ago when Chad led us to victory. I got tickets on the 45 yard line 15th row, and there were more Jet fans than Charger fans in my section. Playing SD is DEFINITELY more favorable than Baltimore. Baltimore's D scares ths sh-t out of me. Schotty Jr. knows the SD offense better than anyone. I'm sure he will assist the D in coming up with a good gameplan for limiting LT and Rivers.
Given the choice, Id take the chargers. For some reason, we have played very well against them in the past couple of years.
I think the Chargers would rather play the Jets, but they actually match up better against the Patriots. Imagine Brian Schottenheimer coaching against his father? But let's not get ahead of ourselves (edit: then I go and do just that two posts down the page!). Tomorrow will be a difficult game.
Given the choice between playing the Chargers or the Patriots, I would take the Chargers. Given the choice between the Ravens or the Patriots, I would take the Patriots. Thus, I like the match up if it happens.
I want to avoid the Ravens. If the Jets are eliminated I will root for the Ravens because I am a big McNair fan. If the Jets are alive when the Colts-Ravens play, I will root for the Colts because I believe the Jets would stand a better chance of defeating the Colts in the AFC CG than they would the Ravens.
I think you guys would want to play the Ravens over the Chargers. Ravens D is a little better than the Chargers, but the Chargers O is way way better than the Ravens. The Ravens had trouble running on us that should tell you about there running game.
I like to take it one game at a time but looking ahead both are great teams and both have weaknesses but I guess I would rather face the Ravens only because of Tomlinson.
Lets look past the Pats. The game will be ours in a blow out. Now, on to the Bolts!!!! Remeber a few years back during reg season when the Bolts were like 10-0 until they ran into the Jets buzz saw??? And then we hammered them in the playoffs? Screw the Bolts. We will win in a blowout. Now lets look on to the AFC Championship Game!!!
I would rather play the Ravens. their running game isn't as goos as it used to be (ranked in the 20's I believe) and they have depended all year on McNair bailing them out. TO beat Baltimore all you have to do is contain McNair, whereas to beat the Chargers you have to worry about the entire offense, and although Baltimores defense has been good, I think too many people still think of it in terms of their Super bowl defense, which it hasn't been since then. the current Baltimore D is good, but not immovable. we match up much better with Baltimore as long as you don't mistake them for the 2000 team.
They destroyed the Steelers in Pittsburgh in Week 16 and PIT was still in the playoff race. The Steelers finished the season by going 6-2 (both losses were blowouts by Baltimore). They went 3-0 against playoff teams. They have been playing better offensively since Billick took over the play-calling. Fullback Ovie Mughelli has played great football since getting extended playing time over the same span. The defense is not as great as the '00 version. However, the offense is better. I think it all evens out. This is the highest seeded Ravens team. (The '00 team was a 4 seed.) I think this Ravens team might be the best team in the league. If it's not them, then it's the Chargers.
Taking a page from Mangini's book please don't mention the C word. No Chargers talk we have enough on our plate with the Pats right now.
