Deebo told the Niners, it's not about money, we're done talking, just trade me.

I wonder if the supposed racism and death threats have sealed the deal for him moving out.

I guess they could still tag him at some point though, right?

the 1 reason we can though is becuase our QB is on a cheap rookie deal. so now is the time to spend on things around him because later we can't. we also have tons of picks to fill holes

Not sure if that #10 is enough for the 49ers.
If that happens, I could go see them go all defense with pick#4, and 2 2nd rounds with the first 3 picks which will immediately addressed the defensive holes.

    interesting take.

i assume he's pissed at running the ball. the hits you take running are fundamentally different and can definitely impact his career

i'd like to think Seattle or SF will blink

personally i like the fact that we probably have more insider info on Deebo suggesting a smarter decision on our end

Which makes me wonder does Deebo has a shorter career lifespan? Will he start declining like a running back after 4 years or like a normal WR around age 30? Nice thing is with the Jets Deebo would be able to split carries on the jet sweep with Moore and Berrios.

This sounds right, I think I saw a comment from Deebo's camp to this effect. Makes me a bit wary that we may pay for last year's production and not get a season like that from him again. He's a good WR but what really makes him a special weapon is the WR/RB hybrid routine.

That's possible, but someone else mentioned that SF had no one else to run the ball which is why they leaned on Deebo as much as they did. We won't have that issue. I assume - I know what happens when you ass...u...me - that he won't have a problem running the ball occasionally, just not carrying the workload of two positions.

I know I am in the minority here but I’m not willing to depart with the 10th pick. I am aware of all the buzz on how great he could be based on last years performance and how many wonders he will do for Zach. Some think he is even a better choice than Hill etc etc. Sure he will be a vast upgrade and contributor, but we need to pump the brakes with the guarantee of him giving us 1400 yards and ten touchdowns. Are we thinking than Moore and Davis and the two TEs are there for window dressing this year? Especially on a team than wants to emphasize the run. He will be a legit #1 but in a far more conservative O as we develop Wilson. It will not be the Debbo one man show like it was in SF with Jimmy.
I want to leverage using premium picks to build this team right and within a sustainable long term budget. I rather use the 10th on an immediate difference maker on the D and so I believe does JD. That’s why we are pursuing a WR in free agency, so we don’t have to use the 10th to pick one, nor to trade for one.
If we can get him with the second round I’ll bite, but I’m not giving the premium pick where I can get a stud Edge or OT or CB. if we get him I’ll root for him 1000%, but I worry we are over blowing the benefit to Wilson entirely too much.
Last years offensive injuries could happen to anyone, including Debbo, and having a no shit D that can slow down the opposition , keeping us in the game and putting the ball on Wilson’s hands is just as key to his development.

You list off the positions we could take a stud player at if we keep the 10th pick but you left out wide receiver which to me is more likely to be the pick than any of the ones mentioned. I will trade a chance at a great receiver for the guarantee of a great receiver with cap space being the tradeoff every time.

I also view the situation differently here. If he can catch 90 balls for 1400 yards and 10 touchdowns then great but I also don’t think that’s the type of usage he necessarily wants and it’s not the type of usage we would need him to have. He’s the kind of guy that opens up the field for everyone else and luckily we have a guy in Elijah Moore who is the exact same thing. The two of them would play off of each other perfectly.

While I'd love for JD to get Deebo, I'm with you on not wanting to give up the 10 (or the 4). I think one of the 2nds, one of the 3rd or 4ths, and maybe a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th next year, or maybe Mims. I think that's decent value for both sides.

That said, I wouldn't pull my hair out (what's left of it) if JD gave up the 10 for him, but I'd want a decent pick back. We need picks, and while Deebo would solve the WR1 problem and provide a lot of draft flexibility, we still have holes to fill.

That's all I'd do too. 10 is enough, might even be too much. SF can draft any receiver they want with that pick. All these star receivers who got traded for multiple ones this year were all late firsts, that's why they're was so many firsts.

Don't forget KC accepted a trade for Hill with us for no firsts. I would do the same trade for Deebo.

An upgrade over Garrapalo. But, then again everyone here said Zach has no accuracy.

It wasn't the hard throws that were the problem, it was all the other throws. I'm hopeful he was just overthinking it and trying to aim all the shorter stuff too much. A general trend with Wilson was that when he was accurate he got more accurate and when he was inaccurate and out of rhythm the wheels completely came off.

With the exception of All Pro veterans, that's usually the case - they tend to be streaky. But Zach was reliably, extremely accurate in college, 2nd by a very slim margin to Mac Jones his senior year. I put his struggles off to having to adjust not only to the faster pace of the NFL, but the lack of talent he had around him for most of the season. I fully expect to see him become much closer to his stats in his senior year within the next season or two, assuming the talent around proves out.

I still think it is about money, just because nearly every time it is. Even Deshaun ended up in a place which gave him the most guaranteed money even though he liked other destinations more and hated Cleveland weather. But Deshaun aside, I suspect it comes down to negotiations, where Deebo wasn't offered Tyreke Hill money and felt disrespected with relationship then souring. I have no inside knowledge on this, just playing the odds that this has something to do with money more than anything else.
