Well I guess we are 201-1 odds to win it… worse than the Jags, Lions and Texans… that’s just unbelievable. If that won’t light a fire under their ass I don’t know what will!!!
I can buy having long odds. I cannot believe we are worse off than the Lions, Jags, Texans, and Giants.
To play devil's advocate - The Lions were a far more competitive team throughout last season than we were. We have a very hard schedule on paper next season. The Jags went HAM in free agency, which is eventually going to bite them but bodes well for next season. We play in a much better division than the Texans.
Vegas isn’t in the being right business, it’s in the being rich business . They are making the Jets the longest odds more profitable because they know they’ll get the emotional wager out of it..
Our Super Bowl next year is going to be approaching .500 and not being out of it by the 1st week of November. Odds on that? Probably 200-1.
So in 2002 (around there) I was in Vegas on business and bought all my co-workers a $5 ticket for their team to win the SB. One coworker was a fan of NE, and the odds were 200-1, as NE sucked balls and had just lost their first 2 games to open the season at 0-2. Cha-Ching! He thanked me post SB with a $100 bill.
I can believe longer odds than the Lions or Jags. Lions were competitive in many of their games last year and don't seem too far off from being a decent team. Jags have Pederson coaching and a lot of anticipation as to what he can do with Lawrence. Texans and Giants? They have next to nothing. We at least have a QB with potential and some other guys with pieces to work with, plus we showed some improvement towards the end of the year while the Texans and Giants regressed.
But surely Rome showed progress by year 4 no? Or were they still getting blasted by smaller market opponents in Constantinople, Carthage, and Alexandria? i think yet another last place finish in the Mediterranean East, and Jupiter would be less than patient. There would be smiting!
You have seen the other teams in the AFC East right? It is now probably the hardest group in the NFL. So what is or isn't unbelievable about it? Is it really that much of a shock to you?
When you take off the green-colored glasses, this is the reality of the situation. The Jets are probably going to continue being bad for the foreseeable future.
