I know the draft isn't set and can be unpredictable. But just from the way things are falling ATM it seems the two blue chip players that will most likely still be on the board for us at 4 are Thibodeaux and Hamilton. If this was the situation what would you do? Its a no brainer, and we take Thibs? Hamilton may be the best player in the draft and a future star, grab him. Pass on both and trade down in the top 10 for a next tier guy like Gardener or Walker? Trade out of the top 10 for a giant haul. There is a poll at the top if you missed it.
Thread title is confusing. In the poll you ask who do you want. Thread title makes it seem like what will Joe D do. I will change your title. Oh, eventually will move to draft forum
I kind of want to trade down also, but at some point we need to get blue chips on our roster. Someone who will become an all pro. I wouldn't hate Hamilton.
I wouldn’t hate either but not sure about Hamilton being that blue chip to be honest. I would say Neal or Ekwonu at 4 and a WR at 10. But this would mean Joe totally screwed up picking Becton and Mims 2 years ago.
Kayvon Thibodeaux for me. Then Jermaine Johnson. This team needs a premiere pass rusher to pair with Carl Lawson. Needs to be a star at #4 though. Sauce Gardner and Kyle Hamilton would be fine too. I really feel like the O-line is good enough at the moment, but if JD goes that direction, I could live with it.
4 very likely comes down to whoever they like best that is available between Kayvon, Travon & Johnson. I’d be very surprised if it is anyone else.
Given these choices, it's a no brainer to me. Get Kayvon at 4. We need a pass rusher who puts fear into opposing offenses. Someone who commands double teams. Someone who makes those around him better.
I don't think they would trade up that far. I'm thinking if they do it would be more at 10. but if they offered that and KT and hutch were gone i'd love it. we could get johnson at 10 and best WR available at 20. then have 3 2nds where we could get a safety, travis jones, and have a free pick for a BPA
I'm not sure that Thibs will be available at #4. If he is, we'll draft him. If he's not, I think we'll weigh trade down option vs drafting Sauce.
I'd be willing to trade out of #4, but I'd still want to be in the top 10 AND get a "haul", like another 2nd this year and a future 2nd. To trade into the 10-20 range, I'd want at least a 2nd and 3rd this year and next year's 1st. Jets fans may not value that #4 pick because we already have our QB (whether you agree he's the answer or not, we're not drafting one this year). Remember that Macc gave up three 2nds to move from 6 to 3 for a chance to get "his guy". If they stay at #4, the pick completely depends on whether they believe Becton can be counted on to return 100% and fulfill his potential. I heard what Hughes said, but I still have my doubts that the Jets believe in Becton. I know they really want a pass rusher there, but unless the unbelievable happens, Hutchinson won't be there, and while Thibodeaux may be the guy they're looking for, he has some doubts attached to him as well. OTOH, Ekonwu is as close to "can't miss" as you can get, and looking ahead to next year's draft class, there's no OL being talked about in his level of ability coming out, so I still think Douglas might take Ekwonu there, and maybe Johnson at #10, or another pass rusher with their 3rd/4th pick depending on how the board falls. It does seem like with those first 4 picks - barring a trade back - they want to secure long term studs at Edge, WR, OL, DT, and the order of drafting them will be driven by the board.
If KT or Hutch are there at #4 you take them If both are gone, I take Sauce If all 3 are not available I take our top OT target, so Ickey/Neal
I have serious doubts that the Jets are giving up on Becton at this point. Drafting insurance for Becton at 4 would be ludicrous, that’s what all the mid round picks are for. It’s gotta be a pass rusher at 4.
I would like Jameson Williams, it said that his rehab is way ahead of schedule. I doubt he will make it past Falcons to our 10th pick.. Then pick best edge rusher with 10.
A lot! His hands are very strong, good motor, good size and good athlete. I would love if he is the guy we select.
