We're just gonna have to agree to disagree on our evaluations. There are a lot of different flavors of WRs this year. The good news is we'll get to see these kids play the next few years and it will be fun to see if they translate the way we project.

Absolutely that’s what makes evaluating prospects a fun hobby. I could be wrong I could be right. I just feel when a player is talented they pop off the screen and usually have a pedigree of doing so.

Jameson Williams is a tough one.

If not for the ACL I could see an argument for him being the #1 WR in the draft. Not as a pure WR per se, but just as a threat and weapon on offense that changes the dynamics of what a defense has to prepare for.

ACL's are a lot easier to recover from than they used to be but I still worry about it when we're talking about a guy whose primary selling points were elite speed and agility.

He should be medically checked pre draft and if it looks like he will be recovered and ready for training camp or just after he's my pick at 10. Clear concensus #1 pre injury. ACL isn't as bad as it was 10 years ago.

WR is tough to evaluate this year.
--Jameson Williams -- I don't love how he catches against his body.
--G Wilson and Olave -- How much is the system? Best receiver at OSU is next years draft. Tough for a

After watching the whole video, my new target is Alec Pierce in the 2nd round. Use the 4 and 10 to get best player available on defense.
I think Pierce has the highest floor with a decent ceiling as well. Good size, great speed, great routes. Seems he was a little under utilized.

I haven't watched Pierce's game tape yet. I did watch his Senior bowl/Combine, and what scared me was his hands. Didn't look natural for him. Looked like he was fighting the ball. Again, I haven't watched him in live action, which is more important, but the workouts gave me a pause for concerns. Hope it was just nerves.

I didn't watch him during Senior bowl/Combine. Hands are a necessity as Zach Wilson tends to put a bit more on his throws than most NFL QBs.

    https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Alec-Pierce-WR-Cincinnati

Comments on hands on both Strengths and Weaknesses --
    Strengths -
    • Very good hands accepts, the ball fluidly on most throws, and is ready to make a play afterward. Makes catches in traffic, even going up over taller defenders with vertical and toughness. Has had an impressive 117 QB rating when targetted over his college career making him Ridder's best friend
    Weaknesses -
    • His hands are on the whole decent but he has some concerning drops and has concentration - turning to run before he's hauled the pass

It just seems that each of the top tier WR prospects has some pretty major flaws. WR is tough to evaluate. Jets can't afford to miss on their 1st round picks.

I love his list and love Williams as number one, Watson as 2 and Pierce as 3.

So I think Simms does see a little about what I was saying about Wilson. I’m not as extreme at him but at the beginning I had him at WR1 and now for me he is WR3. Not out of the top 5 like he’s trying to say. With Wilson and Olave I believe that Day system is very WR friendly and he schemes them open.
Watson I also think is absurd being at #2 it just has no merit.

Alec Pierce is interested because he’s a really good deep threat. People want to compare him to Jordy Nelson because he’s white but I think he is more like a bigger version of Will Fuller without all the injury problems. He’s an interesting prospect and I’m looking into him more. From what I see so far I’m impressed. Good find by Simms.

Burks I feel is low at 4 but he sees the same playmaking ability I do. I think Burks will be the best WR in this class when it’s all said and done.

London is a wasted pick with his slow feet and injury history. Complete land mine.

Chris has a great record evaluating QBs, but other positions have been a hit and miss. Granted he thinks Jameson Williams is the best WR, same as I think most people thought pre-injury, but injury and likelihood of reoccurrence is what still bothers me. Maybe if JD trades out of top 10, then Jameson can be an option.

Even with the injury I don't think he lasts that long. I think there's a good chance that he's the first WR off the board.

Simms is a guy you either like or don't, not much in between. I like him. Aside from his strong endorsement of Zach, and his track record of being right more often than not, I like that he doesn't just rely on numbers - he looks beyond all that to things that really show what a player is made of. Of course he can't see first hand every prospect, but he takes into account the players and coaches around him, the scheme he plays in, the level of competition (although he often weighs this less than a lot of other factors, which I tend to agree with also). He's also big on things that you can't learn or be taught: speed, quickness (not the same thing), arm strength, explosiveness, elusiveness, feel for the game, to name a few.

With all of that said, I'd pay close attention to where these receivers wind up. I think they'll bear out his assessment in the end, regardless of what number they're drafted at. Personally, I hadn't heard, or seen any tape, on Pierce, but he certainly seems like a good fit for the Jets - big (relatively) fast, strong, excellent route runner. I'd be happy with him, Watson, or Williams, first choice being Williams.

It's one thing for us to all play amateur GM on here. But to play amateur neurologist based on a highlight tape is absolutely reckless IMO.

You've made it quite clear that you don't like London, but this very irresponsible.

I love Alec Pierce. Might be my favorite player In the entire draft.

Jameson Williams hype Is really dumb to me.

I need to watch more Watson, but, I never got the impression he was anything more than a day 2 prospect.

It's baffling he doesn't have either OSU on his list. Incredible.

Chris Simms. I swear. The gift that keeps on giving.

Ya maybe that’s true. It’s hard not to assume he didn’t have a few concussions when his head slammed against the turf and couldn’t get up under his own power multiple times (twice I saw in film).

It’s not that I don’t like him it’s that I feel he’s going to be a bust. I just can’t see him staying healthy with his playing style. Plus I just don’t feel he’s fast enough.
What I do like about his game is that he’s a 50/50 ball specialist. It’s actually really impressive and I think his back shoulder/fade game is really good too. I think he can be a really good red zone threat as well. So it’s not all bad.

Alec Pierce is a nice prospect I really like him too. However, it’s too bad Cinci didn’t have him run more routes… on the tape it Go’s and posts with the odd back shoulder. I think he is talented enough to run more routes but it just wasn’t on tape much.

I would take him at 69 any day if he falls that far. 38 it’s not out of the question but it depends who else is there too and what we did with our first 3 picks.

While the names Simms proposes are intriguing & highlights the strength of this WR class, I think you also need to worry about the run of WR needy teams in the late first round & be very cautious about hoping one falls to you in the early 2nd. If there's a guy or two that Douglass really likes, we need to be aggressive.

Agreed. I think this is especially likely given that a lot of teams are going to have the Bengals turnaround fresh in their minds and try to mimic them to a degree.
