Biggest shocker for me was AVT's move to Right Guard. Hopefully this works out. We shall see. https://www.newyorkjets.com/video/robert-saleh-press-conference-at-the-annual-league-meeting-3-28 https://nypost.com/2022/03/28/jets-new-offensive-line-will-look-differently-than-expected/
And Saleh said Becton's knee has not healed yet and he will not be ready for OTAs. https://sports.yahoo.com/jets-robert-saleh-says-mekhi-152856942.html
That knee may be a long term problem. With an overweight(I didn't say fat), OT with a balky knee... I'm perfectly fine taking Ikem at #4 and whomever is in the starting lineup, so be it... our swing tackle will be uber talented.
Coach Saleh really handles the media well. Very positive and respects the part of the job that many coaches distain. Glad we have him.
Yes, it puts it in play for one of the T, but I still think JD is going to trade back out of it, so I think he'll look for a stud OL a little further back in the first.
A few rumors out there the Jets really like Penning. But, he could potentially go top 20. But there are good day 3 options too.
So, what happened to our favorite dead horse Van Rotten? Is he still on the roster or did he take the stroll?
One of my clients work at the Breakers Resort down here in Florida and he texted me. He is personally overseeing the Jets table at the owners meeting and was serving Saleh and Joe Douglas this morning! Pretty cool ..... My inner kid inside wants to ask him if he can tell him not to draft Kyle Hamilton hahaha!
I don’t think you have to worry about that. I doubt JD goes down that road with Hamilton unless he trades back and he falls to 10 or greater. He won’t take him at 4 I’m almost sure of that.
Looking at the video it looks like Saleh has bulked up from last year. Which makes me vaguely recall reading something from last year about Saleh having a hard time keeping weight on last year and losing weight. But, I don't recall the details.
I don't think the Jets trade back. 4 and 10 are great spots to get the coveted blue chip talents With the Mekhi news (and Fant's contract status, I'm getting myself used to the idea of OL and DL in some order with those two picks and either using or packaging the seconds in some way for WR
Thanks for this, didn't realize Becton is still injured. "He’s a very large man, and he’s been working on that knee... working to get back on the field sooner rather than later." Isn't it what we heard after first few weeks of the season? It's nearly April now. I was trying to stay positive on Mekhi, but this is a huge bummer. Again with "Becton is a large human" crap. If every injury is going to take this long because he is a large human, I am afraid we need to go with Ickey or Neal at #4 if KT is off the board. Then perhaps trade up from second round pick to still make sure we get Edge and WR. We really need someone like Moses on the team, or go OT early in the draft.
That actually makes a lot of sense. AVT played on right side in College too, and only had 1 pro season. Compared to Tomlinson who also played some in College, but that's been a LONG time back and he is Pro Bowler on the left side. That's the value AVT brings and why he was a good draft pick - flexibility. Good, logical move by the Jets.
