I was watching one of the many Pro Football talk shows on FSN and the question was If you are a player in the league and you have the option to play for Mangini or Belly in the next 5 years who is it?

The panel was Jason Seahorn and suprisingly he responded Mangini because he feels he is younger, has more upside and appears to be a little more of a person. He has implemented the New England blueprint better than any of the other assistants.

Eddie George took Belly simply because he has 3 SB rings, nothing else but said he liked what Mangini was doing but he has to keep it up.

Tim Brown said Mangini because he doesn't like the way Belly treats his players, they are disposable even if they are in thier prime. Also likes Manginis upside.

I could not believe that Mangini already earned this much respect from the retired players. I can't imagine what he has earned from players in the league and this current crop of Jets. I'd hate to say it but we might very well be heading into the greatest era of Jets football. An era where a loss is shocking and not handled like it's acceptable.

I do not think it shocking that ex players are picking Mangini. You have to know that they talk to current players, hear opinions etc. They know better than you would think.

Yeah I have to think Mangini shows a softer more personable side than Belichik. It goes to show you that some people would rather play with a personable young up and comer than a two timing HOF grouch.

The biggest reason a star athlete or any athlete shouldn' want to play for Belichek is because of one of the quotes above, he treats every player like they are disposeable. The Pats show no loyolty towards their players. Hopefully the Jets can establsih a tradition of keeping their players and keeping their respect.

I'm sure most players would rather play for Herm than Mangini or Belichick. And I don't think anyone would argue that Herm is a better coach than Mangini or, certainly not Belichick.

It is a compliment, I guess, although I think there reasoning has more to do with the fact that he's a more personable guy, a nicer guy. Players would pick Herm over either because of his player-friendly attitude and easy training camps.

i dont think so. not a player who wants to win. herms a guy who can get their team ready for the football game, but hes not as smart as mangini or belicheck. also, when things go wrong, it seems like he goes down and it only makes things worse.

I think most players want to play for a guy thats fair and will give them a shot to compete..Well thats what EM is all about (ask J.Co). No one outworks Mangini and his players know that and respect that..Kimo said "I learned more football from Mangini then I've learned in a long time"..That my friends is a screaming ringing endorsement of a Head Coach as I've ever heard. He is truly a players coach..tough..hell yeah..but fair and ALWAYS prepared..He is going to a great one

That my friend says a WHOLE lot about E. Mangini

Yo Woody..You might want to think about redoing the Coach's contract ASAP he'll be cheaper now then year 3..The fans want him locked up for the long term because its clear to us what we have in EM.

I would like to way in on this because I have a little insight into this. Coach belichick is the one I like to play for because my hand is really heavy with 3 super bowl rings and my super bowl mvp trophys. Mangini was our def cord for one year and that was a year we lost in the playoffs. That means he was responible for one of only 2 losses coach has in the playoffs.

I believe the interception you threw to Champ Bailey in the end zone who then returned it 103 yards was why your Pats lost the game..You LOST the game Tom Brady..But hey don't let a little thing like the FACTS get in the way!!

The facts are that coach has lost only 2 playoff games and mangini was the def cord for one of those games. So i am sorry those are the facts accept them and move on with your delusional thought that the jets can win a playoff game. You should be happy that you are even in the playoffs since its been so long

I think the Mangini love is being laid on a little too thick already. This team wasn't completely devoid of talent last year, it had terrible injuries and a coaching staff that was notoriously poor at adapting. Has he done a good job? Sure. Is he Vince Lombardi? We'll see. As for von Suckoften, I'd prefer it if he'd learnt less and played better this year. What he's really saying is "f#ck you" to Cowher, nothing more. And really, does anybody care what Jason Sehorn thinks?

All that is true what you said about the Jets team last season and some people even had the Jets going to the SB, but you have to look the Jets didn't have Martin and they didn't know what Chad was going to be like this season.

I agree, no one remembers brook bollinger was your qb for half the season, no one could win with him, so lets not get to excited about mangini yet. what if the jets are only .500 next season will their still be this question mangini or bellichick

What if we win the SB then what do you think then? We can play "what if" all day and night.

Your right, so the facts are the pats have won 3 out of the 5 super bowls.
Jets last super bowl appearance was 1969.
jets and pats split season series.
brady is a two time super bowl mvp.
jets are a 8.5 under dog Sunday.
belichick 11-2 in the post season.
mangini 0-0 (0-1 as def cord) in playoff.
jets beat 3 teams .500 or better (Pats, packers and titans)
pats beat 6 teams .500 or better (jets, bears, jags, bengals, packers and titans)
