Thanks for this! A lot of intriguing names on this list. Frankly, I wish they could sign about 3/4 of them. But getting OT depth and flexibility, an IDL, a good LB (or two), and another WR with proven ability would be great. IDK if they can swing all that, but they could still make some cuts and fee up some space I think.

I'm not "making things up about his fit". I'm throwing out the possibility that this might be an issue. "Getting to the second level" also doesn't prove that he's a zone blocking fit.

Frankly, I don't even like CS that rely on a specific scheme to succeed. I much prefer a CS that can take what they're given - within reason - and win. IOW, "old school": I'll line up my 11 and you line your 11 and let's see who wins. But this is the nature of the game today. Bottom line: I don't what scheme, or which players, I just want them to win a damn championship or at least become perennial contenders.

In fairness to the administration they did draft Wilson, Moore, Carter, AVT and Fant has turned out to be a good LT for them.

Will Becton be ready to go or will he still be rehabbing?

I know you speak of patience but 2 years in he still an unknown going into his third year. Jets will let us know the status of Becton future with Jets in this draft.

My feeling on Becton is he'll probably come back ready to play. And he will probably get hurt sometime during the season.

What I would love is for Becton to come back and get some quality play time, play at a decent level and turn some heads, then trade him while his stock is high. Its just my feeling that he is too big and not taking his career seriously enough - or he has self control issues? I'm worried his issues will pop up again down the road. Either way I'd like to cut bait with him while we can get some of our investment back.

This is part of why I want Ekwano at 4. Also, if Fant has a year like he had last season he's going to want top 10 OT money, and I don't think that JD will, or necessarily should, pony that up. And why should he if we already have a stellar replacement on a rookie deal, ready to make any playoff runs we may make. If Ekwano falls to us he will be BPA.

If Becton isn't ready, Ekwano gives Zach the best chance to succeed. Plus we just get t he o-line tightened down and not have that headache every year.

Obviously, you have a short memory or never watched him play at Louisville or with the Jets his rookie season.

I was just responding to the point about him being especially mobile. I think his 40 time has tricked a lot of people into thinking he's more mobile than he is.

40 time isn't indicative of short area quickness or lateral agility, which are the things that are important for a zone blocking OL.

Yes, they did draft those players, but I think much, if not most of that credit goes to JD and the scouts rather than the CS. Fant was all JD and the scouts. That was before Saleh was even a thought.

He is already ready to go based on the videos of him working out.

He shouldn't be an unknown imo. He gave ample evidence his rookie season of what he could do. Did you watch the Baldy film review of Becton's rookie season? If not, I suggest that you and the other doubters do so. Yes, he struggled last year in OTAs and TC, but in addition to his not being in shape learning the new, complex offense may have had a lot to do with that. I don't know how intelligent Becton is or isn't, but he could have been struggling picking up the new system and thinking too much, which we all know causes players to be slower and to struggle, and not play well. In fact, if there's a problem with Becton and this scheme, my guess would be that it's a mental issue rather than a physical issue, but hey, I could be wrong.

Regardless, I still think that he has waaaaaaaaay too much talent and potential to just give up on him and trade him. I doubt that we'd get anywhere near what he's worth. IMO the smarter approach would be to be patient with him as long as he is working hard, and putting forth the effort, and seek to help him develop/learn the scheme. I love Ekwonu, but I don't think he's more talented than Becton, although again, I could be wrong.

His 40 time has absolutely nothing to do with it. SMH

This all depends on how he shows up for OTAs - assuming he shows up. But if the Jets received an Adams-level offer for him, why shouldn't they consider that? I really want to see us retaining the good talent we acquire rather than getting rid of it, but at the same time I've seen them keep too many players around long past the time when it was obvious - to everyone but them apparently - that they weren't worth keeping and at that point they get nothing.

I'm firmly in the "Show me" camp with Becton. I hope he does, but if he doesn't then they need to consider all options.

    That's correct, it doesn't.

For what it's worth though you just said Becton is just as quick as Trent Williams despite the fact Williams is 50 lbs lighter and ran a faster 40 with a faster 10 yard split than Becton.

Maybe take a step back and realize you're so desperate to defend Becton that you'll make things up to do so?

Can we stop? Becton will ultimately decide by his actions. There is really no doubt he has the talent.

Why does everyone think the only way to improve OL is by using 1st rd picks or spending g big money?

We should absolutely draft tackle depth/Becton insurance. We should absolutely not use a 1st rd pick on it.

JD McKissic just flipped from signing with Buffalo to returning to Washington. I'll feel better once the Jets prospective signees are officially under contract.

Where did I say that Becton is just as quick as Trent Williams? I didn't say that. I'm not making anything up. Never have, never will. That's utter BS and you should know me better than that by now.

Maybe you learn to read and quit accusing other people of doing what you do, i.e., making stuff up?

Really--that was a great pick-up for the Bills--he's money in the short passing game. Glad they lost him.
