We could be taking Garrett Wilson or Jordan Davis at 10 now. With Thibodeaux seemingly sliding out of the top 3, he's going to the pick at 4.
Thank you my friend! I don’t do it for applause, I do it to help keep all of my fellow Jets fans informed. But I’ll also accept the applause! Lol
Initially I agreed with the BPA concept, but now I'm not so sure. I think that the Jets will look to take a WR somewhere in the 1st two rounds regardless of BPA. They need 6 WRs, and at present only have Moore, Davis, Mims and Berrios. Don't who, but there could be a depth-type WR that JD will sign in a day or two, but if not, then he will have to draft 2 WRs, and I think the same thing goes for TE. I can't imagine the Jets rolling with Uzoma, Griffin, Wesco and Yeboah. Perish the thought, but if Uzoma went down with an injury, our TE room would be the same as last year...AWFUL. MLF also wants to run 2-TE sets, and in order to do that and have proper depth, the Jets will need to keep 4 TEs. I suppose they could go with Uzomah, draft pick, and either Griffin (as a receiving TE) or Wesco (as a blocking TE), and Yeboah, but that would be disappointing. With the depth and quality in this TE class, I definitely think they should draft 2.
Spot on. We settle for average players because they're a slightly better value and then wonder why so many of our FA's underperform or get injured etc. There are usually good reasons these guys can be had as cheaply as they are. Having said that, I'm pretty pleased with this FA period overall. Williams was absolutely a miss though unless he was just using us as leverage. @NCJetsfan I'm very much an optimist in general. Being optimistic with the Jets has almost always been foolish though. I learned that long ago after my 500th straight season of realizing I was overly optimistic during the offseason.
We're not taking Jordan Davis at #10. That would be insane. You don't take a part time player in the top 10. SMH
Man we're sure going to be thankful we saved $2 million of cap space after we let up tons of 3rd and 25's again next season. Yippee.
I don't think the Jets are gonna draft two DTs or sign one and draft one, not with all our other needs. TE is still a top major need. FS is still a big need. I think Whitehead will play in the box. I see our major needs as: 1. Edge 2. WR 3. FS 4. TE 5. DT 6. LB 7. 2nd TE 8. RB 9. OL depth I think there is still cap space available where JD could sign a DT and either LB depth or maybe another TE.
I feel the same. With the roster the way it is right now the Jets would likely have to draft 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 developmental OL, an edge player and a DT. Fortunately, this is a really good draft for WR, TE and edge depth.
even with the fact we are pretty set there and have other holes? wouldn't be very smart and CB isn't a big need in our system.I don't think a lot of people here understand the defense the run
Overall our lists are pretty close. But, I don't think safety is that big a need right now. Whitehead will start and Joyner and Pinnock will fight it out for the 2nd spot. Davis will be depth and we could possibly draft a safety in rounds 4 or 5. I agree that TE is a big need. We need to draft one of these good young TEs this year. Some amazing depth in this TE class. We really need to upgrade our DTs. We lost Fats, Rankins was horrible against the run, and Marshall was not good against the run in college. I expect us to sign one DT as a low cost FA and draft another in rounds 2 to 4.
If a team is one or two players away you may overpay. But the Jets are not ready for that. JD has added starters at weak positions without the cap headache. Great stuff.
I couldn't possibly agree with this more. Many Jets fans thought the Jets would have to buy their way to respectability by overpaying big-name FAs to come here. JD is showing them that isn't the case, if they will just open their eyes.
