Wow, I didn't know that we lost 5 assistants, although I knew that we had lost Cavanaugh (no big loss) and Beck. I knew that one other had left. Blake and Moreland went to the Cardinals. It will be interesting to see who the new QB Coach is.

All serious Jets fans care if the team management is serious about improving every aspect of the organization or is content to allow the status quo to continue.

Thanks for showing us where you stand.

Jets fans. Gotta love posters trying to twist this into some kind of negative. SMH

I am constantly amazed by the stupidity of people. Emotions and the Jets losing has the effect of shutting down brain functioning and making people dumber. There is no better evidence than some of the trolling posts on this board this last year. But, what really is sad is that most of the trolls here have gone from being Jet fans to actively rooting against the team.

One of the best things that will happen once the Jets start winning again is this board may once again become readable.

I believe we have had one guy here who has said he is now rooting against the Jets. For you or anyone else to claim that this is anything other than an isolated case is simply ridiculous.

I liked Billy. He often drank in a bar in my hood (Binghamton) after he retired. One snowy night he stumbled out and slid off a mountain road about a mile from where I lived. He didn't make it. It was really sad.

I am no Yankees fan but I liked Billy Martin. Players played hard for him and he was fearless when he went after Reggie Jackson in the dugout. I also liked his Billy Ball in Oakland. Knew he didn't have a good team but got the best out of them and they were exciting to watch.

I think I've told this story before... but here it is again.

Years ago I was shooting a test commercial that featured Whitey Ford, Billy Martin, and my childhood idol Mickey Mantle.

All morning it was just the four of us on a small stage... going through various ideas and takes suggested by the ad agency guys
in the control room. I was in heaven.

Mid afternoon the agency called lunch... and I ran and got a baseball I happened to have from a previous production... hoping to get Mickey to sign it.

I approached the three Yankee icons as they discussed where they were gonna go to eat. When there was a pause in their conversation I sheepishly told Mickey that he was my childhood hero and would he sign my baseball.

He looked at me like I was a cockroach and said something like "We're on lunch"...

Billy Martin, noticing my unease, said "Give me that... I'll sign it".
Taking the ball & pen out of my hand, he spun the ball... lookng for a good spot to sign it.
He then said suddenly ..."I ain't signing that".

I had forgotten there was another signature on that baseball... Reggie Jackson's.
He ended up signing it... as Whitey and Mickey laughed.

They came back from lunch so drunk the ad agency called it a wrap.
    I still have that baseball.

If the play doesn't work it's on the coordinator.

All the analytics guys do is provide head coaches with winning percentages based on the possible outcomes, examples are below.

    "Go for it and convert"
    "Go for it and fail"
    "Punt" or "Kick FG Make/Miss"

Saleh isn't delegating his decision making to some analytics guy in the booth. He will ask the guy something along the lines of "What are our winning %s if we do X or Y here?", then Saleh makes his decision.

First off, that playcall wasn't a designed sneak, that was our rookie QB making the wrong decision. He hands it off to Berrios the game is over.

2nd, the fact that you want to dump LaFleur speaks volumes about your football knowlege.

Like it or not, analytics has a role in pro sports. The best teams in MLB have invested in departments dedicated to them. In the NFL, the Ravens have become one of the most analytically run teams. The right balance between using numbers and having a feel for what's going on during a game does matter. There were times last year the Chargers went for it when IMO, they shouldn't have. During their second game against the Chiefs, they went for it on 4th and goal a few times when a FG would've been enough.

That fact that you can't spell says I don't really care what you think about my football KNOWLEDGE. LaFleur stinks and that play was nowhere near Berrios and post game they made excuses for that play call. First, it was the coach's call, then it was Zach making the decision to keep it. All B.S. That is why LaFleur sucks and needs to be canned. LaFleur failed in the play call and the audible. Zach failed in the execution.

When you have a QB like Mahomes who can improvise on the fly analytics does not come into it. Yes, 30 other teams do not have a Mahomes but in baseball, it is more strategic and I can see it having an impact there. Plus that is where it began with Bill James. But football is too raw and physical to be crunching numbers for such a short period of 16 games. plus playoffs. When we really talking only about 4th down and 2 point conversions. In gam stuff no way they can nerd that out.

My bad bro, spelled knowledge wrong. Too busy helping kids with autism speak to spellcheck when replying to your stupid ass posts.

If you can’t tell that there was an option to give to Berrios that would’ve easily gotten the first down there based on what defensive front Zach saw, I can’t help you.

They mentioned this idiot during the game as someone that Ulbrich is leaning on for critical game-management decisions. This guy is fucking worthless. Just another used car salesman milking the Jets for cash.
