I think it’s a possibility. The most recent trade that comes to mind in that vein was 2020, the Chargers went up from 37 to 23 and they sent their 3rd (71) to do it. So the trade was: LAC Receives: 1.23 NE Receives: 2.37 3.71 I don’t know if they’ll need to jump that high but that’s the relative value. They showed they were willing to part with a 3rd last year, and they have even more draft assets this year. If they finished the draft with: 1,1,1,2,4,4,5,5 that’s still eight picks in the first five rounds, and they can trade down in the 4th/5th if they want to add another 6th or two. Especially if they managed to trade back with one of the earlier 1sts.
In another post I suggested to keep an eye on the Eagles. If they want #10 the Jets get two of their first rounders. Of course the Jets would probably have to include one of the fourths to even the trade out point value wise - maybe even a third instead - but hell I’d jump on that. 5 picks in the top 38? EDGE OL WR TE and maybe another position slips whether it be one of the LBs or another position of need. The question is who would the Eagles have an interest in to move up 5 spots?
DB OL Edge LB I'm expecting a lot of defense drafted early. The draft lines up well for it, and we were literally the worst D in the league. Mid rounds I'm thinking take shots on O skill, S and LB depth.
They could be looking at one of the QBs, or there could be a position player they covet. I've seen Burks projected to them in several mock drafts.
1) Trenches 2) Play maker for Zack 3) Best D-player available 4) Back to the trenches Probably a significant trade down in there....probably at 2), before taking a play maker for Z
Here is my overall uneducated forecast for the Jets 2022 based on what I think both the FO and CS see as priority in the draft and free agency. Of course, if I remain true to form, free agency will probably contradict me 100% and the draft will go exactly in reverse of my prediction. Free agents as targets. S, LB, TE, WR I expect the first two rounds will be a split at best between O and D most likely with a trade down to add more. Higher chance the D get more attention early. Edge, CB,S, WR, OL. Rounds three and subsequent is where JD and company need to hit a home run or two, improving or finding future replacements at OG, C, TE, K, LB, and IDL. We will also need a couple of undrafted jewels making an immediate impact on special teams and D. I certainly hope JD and the CS hits it out of the ballpark, whichever way they choose to go.
JD will probably go Thib with #4, Ahmad Gardener with #10, and then trade all of our 2nds for Kenyon Green.
