It's a pretty cool system. They have something like 500 players in the draft pool (they won't announce the pool publicly until the draft starts). Each round is dedicated to a specific position and they snake the draft. There are 8 teams and each has 38 players plus 7 PS. Jeff Fisher and Todd Haley are 2 of the HC's. League starts play in April. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl...l-players-pick-order/xjie3ymzumb6oxrmczkvuq9p
So they drafted 11 rounds tonight--Kyle Lauletta went to the Pittsburgh franchise so that's my team. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl...icks-results-rosters/kfjtmrpdeztksutjassswllz
I've only even heard of like 4 guys. Pretty disappointing cause the old USFL used to have some great players before Donald Trump destroyed it. Shouldn't have taken the old name(s) unless they were going to come out big like before
It's a start--who knows how it'll end up--there is this interesting feature whereby guys can sign right after HS and start making money rather than go to college. If the league gets popular and the salaries rise to a couple hundred thou, things may get interesting. Anyway, here's the results of the draft day 1: https://www.foxsports.com/stories/usfl/usfl-draft-every-pick-of-the-draft
Oh that's cool I like that. Problem is that you can make millions at Alabama U now so it wont be as effective as it coulda been landing top talent 5-10 years ago
Is this going to be like the last league that I got all excited about and then the games were crap and then they folded before finishing their first season? That would be cool.
haha---good chance--I was the same way--they did have those cool camera angles from the qb perspective at least.
So the old USFL is suing to stop the new USFL from using USFL as their league name--ok--change it to VSFL--who cares? https://www.barstoolsports.com/blog/3407974/old-usfl-owners-are-suing-to-stop-the-new-usfl
Supposedly the XFL will be back in 2023. The pandemic pretty much caused it to fold and then Zzzzzt! - bankruptcy. Dwayne Johnson bought the league with some other guy (too lazy to look it up). Go New York Guardians! I was actually enjoying it while it lasted.
I just don't see these leagues (USFL, XFL) making it. All of the top talent from college will go to the NFL ($$$$$$) so the other leagues will get players who just aren't as good. I hope it works out but history shows it wont. The quality of play just wont be there like it is in CFB and the NFL.
