Commanders is foolish because its clearly defined as one in command and not just a simple label. The lions, cardinals, jets etc are common nouns with no specific quality beyond a simple genotype. So you're 4-13 and you're a "commander"--stfu. Commandos would be decent.
Personally, I liked to refer to them as WTF more I have to say Commanders is a shit name btw a bit like most of the other names in that list. As somebody said earlier Washington Presidents would have been far better imo

If you want to get technical about it. I just don't know why they couldn't leave a good thing alone. If anyone thinks that the Jets uniforms are an improvement, they're nuts.

When I'm talking to my friends or pretty much anybody about football, I call them the Redskins. I'll never refer to them as the Commanders. If I need to be PC I'll call them Washington.

Two years and THIS is what they come up with? Jeeeez. Just God Awful. Probably the same creative genius who designed our helmets. I strongly considered the Washington January Sixers … but I settled on the Washington Denzels. And that’s what I’ll be calling them. “You fucking Cowboys will be kicking field goals in Pelican Bay when I get through with you!!”
