Huh? Against Buffalo's D, the pass protection was non-existent and the Jet's top receivers were all injured. Zach had no help at all that game. It wasn't on him. Also, it's a miracle he didn't throw an interception. That's a feat in itself. He did a lot better in that game with 0 help than Mac Jones did in his 2 games against the Bills with lots of help.
Well, for once the Jets had the GM select the head coach and the head coach reports directly to the GM. That's a big change and I don't think JD would have hired Saleh if their football philosophies differed much.
. What I'm trying to say and maybe my previous posts were not well expressed, I think you're right that it was JD's idea and Saleh had to buy in to become HC. However, the development of Wilson is now up to Saleh. There have been some suggestions that the responsibility for Wilson's performance this season rests with JD. Once JD made the decision to part with Darnold, drafting Wilson was the right move, no question. Now it's up to Saleh and staff to make it work.
Thanks for the clarification. I agree with this. It's the GM's job to buy the groceries with input from the HC and CS. Then it's up to the HC and his CS to develop the players and put them in a position to succeed.
Boss. Just so you and @bicketybam knows, I run a 10% vig. So Payout will be -110. Winner will get $90 and Brook will keep $10 as service fee. Just kidding. No need to send any money now. Your bet is confirmed. Once next season is over, I will send a notification to you and bickety and remind the bet so you guys can handle the payment. I don't want your moeny get lost if I die or something. I will travel to Turkey during the summer so anything can happen. Lol
Everything you said is exactly why the Jets need to go all in on surrounding Zach with talent. Get him an elite WR ala Ridley, Cooper, Thomas, or Metcalf or draft one such as Burks. Completely redo the black hole that is the TE room. Take McBride or Ruckert and sign 2 veterans. Upgrade RG. They cannot go into 2022 with the question of "Is Zach the guy or did the Jets fail to surround him?" They hired a defensive-minded guy that did very good work with Hall, Echols, and Carter II. I can see them adding a veteran depth piece at CB and a day 3 pick but nothing more. They need to improve at the S position and get another edge rusher. Maybe the Jets luck out and get Hutch or KT at 4. DO NOT TAKE HAMILTON, it's a luxury pick that this team just can't afford.
The is no objective comparison between Sam Darnold and Zach Wilson that puts Wilson on top based upon what we have seen from the two players so far. Sam's sophomore season was light years ahead of anything we have seen from Zach. You want to say Sam sucks that's fine but your golden boy is worse than Darnold.
1st sentence -- reference "objective comparison" 2nd sentence -- compare Sam's 2nd year to Zach's rookie year. (You know, because that's an objective comparison.)
Sam's second year he showed us something. In Zach's only year he showed us nothing. Something is always better than nothing.
I amazed how so called just fans root against their rookie QB. Zach might end up sucking like Darnold before him but actively rooting for him to fail just baffles me. It becomes I wanted my guy so I hope your guy sucks.
It's even more pettiness than that. Some will hate his mom/family/gf or whatever other stupid things. What I like about him (Zach), he has the arm and he is very well respected and loved by his teammates and coaches. Does that guaranteed him to become a star QB? No. Not at all. But he is not a nutcase or somebody that does not care about the game. I do have seen some improvement and great signs last year. I do believe he needs a great TE more than a bunch or star WRs. I don't even remember the last time we had a star TE with the Jets.
