“Commanders, Admirals, Red Tails, Red Hogs (or Hogs) and Armada have emerged among fans as the supposed top contenders.” Speculation is that it will be Commanders. https://www.wusa9.com/article/sport...eveal/65-bcd8e18e-467d-4466-ba7e-d0b72c8fec17
I thought it was nearly confirmed to be the Admirals because they bought the domain? I liked WFT. They should’ve kept it to be unique.
Wow Chicago is still "getting away" with Blackhawks It's not the US Capital I guess So my pick is >>>Washington Presidents Second choice is Washington Lobbyists Third is Washington Security Guards honoring the defenders of our Democracy last Jan 6th
Black Hawk was a great Sauk warrior. Not a tribal name or a derivation based on his appearance. Not sure how native Americans would view a great warrior's name being used as a team name however it should be noted that Blackhawk was never used as a term of derision the way that Redskins was. Edit: just realized that non-native Americans might have a problem with the name. Black Hawk and his people fought for the British in the war of 1812.
Surely there has to be something unique about the capital region than just boring government related names like for example, DC is known for its cherry blossoms. Why not that? The Washington Cherries or the DC Blossoms? —- I also think Washington Gridlock would be a good name, a name with double meaning, symbolizing the awful traffic of the region but also a tongue-in-cheek shot at the politics Hogs is good out of that list imo because it’s not something generic like the others
It just occurred to me that if Washington took the name "Cheeto-eating Clowns" they would probably become America's team overnight. Just do it. Plz?
