S Kyle Hamilton at 4 WR Drake London at 10 London at 10 would be ideal and I'm slowly coming around on Hamilton at 4. I'm just so scarred from the last safety we took, but I'm also starting to realize Hamilton is a completely different player. So let's all fight and argue about how this would be ideal/awful and how Douglas should be extended/fired and how you're pumped/ready to stop watching games. But we can all agree, Mel Kiper sucks.
I do not agree. Mel Kiper does not suck. He’s played part of making the draft what it is today; a huge marketing spectacle. Mel Kiper catches a lot of shit from bad teams fans because he’s honest. Same reason everyone here hates Cimini. He’s declined a bit as he’s fed into the personality that ESPN has forced him to create but he’s still a damn good draft analyst in terms of prospects traits.
No and No Imagine if we had Kyle Hamilton last year. Would we win any more games? Doubtful. Nice player but it’s pointless until we get a pass rush. also, London is good but idk how well he translates to the nfl. He’s a bit slow, he will be dealing with tough catches every play. David Bell or Jahan Dotson are just as good and can be had later. Rumor is Jd wants to trade out of 10 so maybe they do that and go after WR later as Kiper alludes to without any of the trade backs.
I would not be happy with taking London at #10. I don't think that he is anywhere near that good at this point. Yes he presents a huge target and catch radius, but I'll bet between 1/3 and 1/2 of the posters on this forum could run as fast or faster than he does. In the NFL 95% (or higher) of his catches would be contested catches. At the bottom of the 1st round or in the 2nd round, I'd take a flyer on him, but not at #10.
I would be pretty happy with this result although my preference is to trade down from 4 or 10. Big needs for us: TE WR CB S OL LB If we can accumulate enough picks to address ~5 of these in the first two rounds I think it'd go a long way towards making us a better team.
If the mindset is "would this single player have made a difference" then you might as well not draft. You can add a great safety, get back Carl Lawson and also draft/sign more help on the EDGE then all of a sudden you have the pass rush you need in order to feel good about drafting a safety. And I'm not even saying I WANT Hamilton, I'm just ok with it if both DEs and Neal go in the first three picks.
The Jets aren't taking Hamilton at 4 and I'd be shocked if it happens. Hopefully in this scenario a team falls in love with a QB and trades up with us.
I dont mind Hamilton at 10, I want either a edge guy to drop or take Oline. What is everyone's thoughts on Stingley? Is he that elite?
Don't think he'll be there at 10. 4's probably the spot if we want him. Read a report a couple days ago that said the Jets have interest in trading down from 10, not 4, which was surprising to me. If true, I guess the team may have someone particular in mind for the #4 pick.
I’ve seen this a couple times. Unless Douglas is trying to get someone to overpay for #4, I don’t see what the benefit would be to float out there that you want to move down from #10. It’s not like any team in the league would trade up to 10 before they see who goes 1-9. So that trade would take place when we get put on the clock.
This report makes sense for me for 2 reasons: 1. Maybe the Jets have plans for 4 (hello Ridley and 8) if a top Edge doesn’t drop 2. People are willing to pay more to a reluctant seller
There is another article that has Jets trading out of ten to late teens and drafting the Michigan safety, Daxton Hill. These are the moves that drive me crazy, if you are drafting a safety then get the best safety on the board, stop with the trade back and get the second tier guy. Im not a fan of Hamilton at 4 but if the plan is to draft a safety then grab the best guy!
