Tons of cap space, 5 picks in the top 70 of the 2022 NFL Draft, coming off of a 4-13 season.

The New York Jets will be making a ton of moves this off-season and I believe Joe Douglas will be very aggressive.

What are some of your guarantees for the 2022 off-season? (Things you think will happen NOT things you WANT to happen)

Jets spend far more money than ever before during JD's tenure on FA's. Jets sign Berrios and release Crowder, Smith, GVR and Mims. Jets put Becton on strict diet under penalty of heavy fines if violated. Jets upgrade right side of OL either with FA's or draft. Wilson puts on muscle and practices short passing everyday. LeFleur refines game and situational planning. Saleh learns more about being HC. Ulbrich tweaks defense to attack mode from bend and break. Woody remains a ghost.

I believe we attack the O in FA (3 out of 4 top signings) and the D in the draft (4 out of our first 5 picks).

We will do something and people will complain about it. That’s my stone cold lock.

We're getting at least two tight ends. Somehow... and I mean good ones. Some combination of either high draft pick(s) and/or free agency.

And then like Belichik with Aaron Fernandez/Gronk or HHenry/Jonnu Smith LaFleur is going to start molding them like clay into effective pieces of the offense and get Zach some help.

We haven't had anything of note on our roster at that position since the iron age. Thats all going to change starting in a few months.

JD will be aggressive and will dramatically change the talent level and look of the roster.

He will add significant weapons for Zach, fix the right side of the OL, and also upgrade the D.

He will have a great draft, perhaps a HR, but at least a triple, yet some delusional Jets fans will declare it an awful draft and say that he should be fired.

    Some great ideas!

I do think we’ll be more aggressive as JD starts to shift from tear down mode to build up mode….

first year was Gase…draft picks seemed to fit more into his system than what we now run…Becton Mims both seem a bit of square pegs in this offense…I know Becton is mobile for such a big guy but OL in the zone scheme are typically smaller…and I don’t really know WTF happened with Mims but he seems like he can’t run a route in this offense to save his life.

this second offseason was more tailored to the schemes we run now…Lawson for sure…smaller quick DE type…Davis too…big bodied guy, good route runner…and the draft picks fit in well….AVT, Carter and Moore all played well, and the DBs held up better than I expected them to…so it feels like JD has a good sense of what type of players Saleh needs….that’s a positive.

I think JD is starting to feel at least a little pressure to improve in the Wins column, and he has ammo to do it, and I do think he’s going to be more aggressive.

Its truly sad that after all these high draft picks and millions spent on free agents over the last few years, that we STILL have a bottom 5 roster with holes all over the place. We have needs at literally every position group, and not a single group would be considered top ten in the league…maybe KR/PR with Berrios…that’s about it.

we need help everywhere…OL still needs work, WR needs help, TE absolutely, and RB needs a complementary back to the Carter/Coleman combo…like what the Giants had when they had Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw…the thunder to the lightning

on D, we also need help everywhere….DE is still a need as we don’t know what Lawson will be when he comes back, we end LB help in a huge way, S for sure, and even a good CB would be wise

we can literally draft BPA every pick and it would still be a need

I think JD is going to try and trade down….the 4 hole may actually be a good spot to be in since the first picks will likely be the pass rushers, so that the top QB may fall to the 4 or 5 spot…it may work out well for a trade down.

The Jets will sign a top WR and a TE in FA. The defense will be prioritized in the draft. The OL will be fortified using both FA and the draft.

The Jets will look much better on paper by May 1.

Some posters will still complain …..

Becton comes into camp in great shape knowing his LT job is on the line with Fant playing so well. Jets make a big push for C. Ridly. Jets draft LB Dean with pick 10 after taking OL Neal with #4 pick. Draft TE T. McBride with first pick in Round #2. FA we go heard for S & CB. Our DB's can use some experienced players. We sign Berrios ......& hopefully Foly.

Some pinhead from St. Pete will open a new account and start several dogshit threads about how great our draft picks are.

No guarantees, only a lot of hope. I only hope that JD does better with his FA’s this time around.

This is the make or break offseason for JD. If the team isn't significantly improved next year then he's probably out of a job.

With that in mind he's going to spend big in FA, likely focusing on WR, OL and possibly TE (though there's value in the draft there in rounds 2+). JD wants proven talent around Zach so there are zero excuses if Zach still plays poorly. No freshly drafted WR to place the blame on. The Mims fiasco has JD gunshy about drafting WR's, opting instead to sign a proven WR in FA.

Becton will post videos and photos of him working out, fooling gullible fans into thinking he's making real changes. He will likely show up to camp in better shape than last year but will still disappoint on the field due to having to dedicate too much time towards simply being in shape. His technique will not improve enough in pass protection and we'll hear concerning reports out of camp again. Missing the entire season this year will set back his development significantly.

Wilson will show up 10+ lbs heavier after taking a pretty big beating this season.

Crowder gets let go, Berrios taking his place.

The Jets focus heavily on defense in the draft, at least in the first round. A trade down from #4 seems somewhat likely, though maybe JD panics due to being on the hotseat and stays at #4 to draft someone he considers a sure thing (a la Mac with Quinnen). We generally see more and more moves from JD aimed at immediate fixes rather than doing what's best for the long term future of the team.

I hope that you're wrong about signing a WR in FA. If they're any good at all, FA WRs are usually very expensive, and they seldom work out for the team that signs them. I think we need to draft a topnotch WR and let him grow with Zach and Moore.

Maybe I've been biased by other posters, but I think the opposite from you. I think JD will prioritize the D in FA, with the exception of TE and maybe OL depth. I think he will sign a vet S, CB and perhaps LB. He will look to draft an Edge and perhaps a S. I think he will draft a WR early, a TE, OG and maybe RT. IMO this offseason still has to be about developing Zach. If he doesn't develop, it doesn't matter how good the D is. It will be interesting to see how JD does it. Either way can work.

I hope that you're wrong about JD making a big push for Ridley. For the life of me, I can't understand why any of you guys want him. In his 4-year career, he has never started or even played in all 16 games. The closest he came was 2020 when he started 15 of 16 games. This past season he only started 5 games. His second season, he started 10 games and appeared in 13. His rookie season, he appeared in all 16, but only started 5. IMO he's a poster boy for being injury prone. I don't care how good he is when healthy. Apparently, he's not healthy that often. I hope that JD isn't going to burn draft picks trading for Ridley, then paying him a big salary, only to see him play in 10 or fewer games next season.

I don't think they'll take Dean. They have Mosely and like Quincy Williams a lot. They still have hopes for Nasirildeen and Sherwood. I think they might sign a 2nd tier vet OLB, or draft one in the 3rd round or so. I think the two 1st round picks will either be used on Edge and WR or Edge and OL.

I think Joe Douglas will make a move that is completely off of people's radar right now. Trading for a star player that we did not know was available or something like that. Perhaps willing to trade one of the 2nd round picks to make it happen too.

I don't see how we go into next year without adding a WR, TE, S, IOL, and OLB.

S and IOL could be covered by re-signing existing players but those are all gaping holes that must be addressed.

Remember the bold in Penny’s opening post. This is what I think will happen not what I necessarily prefer. I do want the Jets to prioritize the defense on the draft since there’s so much good talent. I still hope they draft a WR,OL, and TE. They may have to engineer a trade down to accomplish all of this. That’s what I really would like to see

You are correct the FA WRs available at this time would probably cost more than they are truly worth.

Yes if he trades up someone will bemoan the hypothetical HOF'er that we could have drafted
