I couldnt find it on any web sites but is he going to get interviewed by Miami. A lot of people were telling me this today but i cant find it anywhere online.
If true, this really sucks. What about his contract? We just hired him! I swear, "contracts" don't mean shit anymore. I don't even know why teams bother to sign them. They don't appear enforcable and no one bothers to abide by them anymore.
They're not going to hire him. I doubt they even interview him. The source is from 'alot of people'. I have that source too but I don't take it that seriously.
I hear you, but nothing would surprise me. The thing that doesn't ring true is "he is going to get interviewed by Miami." That may be the rumor, but you're certainly not going to find this on any news wires because this is tampering as far as I know. I don't think you're allowed to go after any coaches while they're still finishing a season. But Miami's desperate now. Saban was an absolute skunk the way he handled his departure and the only thing they can do now is either take the old retreads or go after the young blood. The Jets have shown so much improvement, everyone will be eyeing our OC.
My rants are usually misplaced everywhere, but that's another story. Are you telling me that because it's a different position, the contract is meaningless and unenforcable? I can't believe football clubs' attorneys allow language in contracts that lets hirees out of their obligation to the organization. We show good faith by bringing someone in and paying them what we promised in writing, but it's okay for them to unilaterally walk away from their end of the bargain? Something is wrong with this picture.
I don't see Schott as HC material just yet. 1 season is meaningless, and honestly I don't think he's capable of commanding respect from the entire team. I just don't see it.
nfl assistant coach contract allows him to go to another team without asking if it's to be a HC. he can't move to another team to be an assistant unless given permission, and PICKS can't be traded for assistant to assistant moves (if permission is given), OR assistant to HC moves (just to squash that right now)
Okay, I stand corrected. And I do remember the "no picks for assistants" thing from the Heimerdinger fiasco. Just doesn't seem fair though.
They were talking on ESPN this morning and they were saying the fins would most likely be hiring from within. This was supposed to help maintain some stability within the organization. I'll put more faith in what I heard on ESPN than some guy on this board who heard from "a lot of people".
I think it is great that Shott is being considered for coaching opportunities, at least other teams realize just how good we are. Who knows, maybe Mangini started a new trend of younger coaches in the NFL and pro-sports in general...
If and when Schotty goes, I think Mangini should be able to fill his shoes in fairly short order. There are plenty of good coordinators out there who know where the Jets are headed and who'll want to be a part of this. This team is going places.
I am more so asking a question than reporting news. Im asking everyone here if they heard anything about miami going to interview schott. Because several different people today that know im a jet fan came up to me telling me this. They said it was on espn.com then i looked there and i couldnt find it.
Are any teams even allowed to approach him? Our season isn't over. Just a question. (That tampering bull crap confuses me)
yeah, we were all saying the same thing about Mangini not being ready. I'll be honest with you, he surprised the living shit out of me. Gotta give him credit for getting you to the playoffs. Also, it is part of the contract of an assistant coach that they can accept a head coaching job with any other team, without draft compensation, so it is a violation of nothing. And they can go to college any time they want.
He can't interview until our season is over, it would help keep Schott in green next year if we win on Sunday.
