LaFleur's the guy in charge of our offense; what's your grade for him?

4th and 2 disaster aside, I was impressed with how much he got out of the backups, which makes me think the problem isn't him but the people he has to work with. And he at least got Zach to stop throwing picks. So I give him a B. And I think he's the best OC we've had in a long time.

After struggling for the first 5-6 games, he made adjustments and things started turning around. That shows me two things:

    1. He's flexible and willing to change.
    2. He knows how to change things.

I expect he and Zach to continue to improve together going forward.

In football, it all starts with the offense. You can't win a football game unless you put points on the board. It was a pretty awful product he put out. I get the rookie QB argument, but I don't know anyone who expected Wilson to be this bad his first year. That performance has to be a reflection on the coach. Grade=F.

Because we were playing with such a depleted roster, I give him some credit. I voted C+ not counting the 4th & 2 debacle.

I probably would have voted a little higher, but I got sick of that run up the middle crap when it so obviously wasn't working. If it doesn't work, let's just keep doing it!

If Berrios wasn't hurt we could quite possibly have had a very different outcome today. You also have to wonder if Greg Knapp hadn't been tragically killed if Wilson's development would've been way ahead of where it is now even if we still wound up with a garbage record. Unfortunately, we'll never know.

Better times ahead. I feel cautiously optimistic for 2022. Let's just hope Douglas nails the draft. Oh, well kids, better luck next year. Again. o_O

Any person who calls a two yard hook pattern on 3rd and 3 gets an F; it means you're too stupid to call plays at a high school level, let alone the NFL.

C - an up and down season, utterly gash until he went in the booth, a big improvement after that, some nice trick plays but also some more poor calls and running up the gut with a packed D against it.

I gave him a C. What started out as a disaster, improved when he went upstairs. Then there was that 4th & 2, and just running up the gut on 1st down.

    Hopeful for improvement.

Started the year terribly, improved a lot as the season progressed. The success our backup QB's had tells me the system is pretty good. LaFleur showed a lot of creativity as time went on, it seemed like he got a lot more comfortable. I think he was pretty much the only bright spot from the entire new coaching staff.

You do understand that running the route beyond the first down marker is baked into all plays on 3rd down, right?

If you want to drag him for not coaching that up more, that’s fine, but the play isn’t designed with a hard and fast rule to not run it to the marker. Or if it’s before the marker, it’s designed to get the player running past the marker after they catch the ball.

Seems LeFleur relied a bit too much on YACs. I've seen too many 5 yd routes on 3rd and 7's. If YAC's aren't getting first downs, then run the plays beyond the marker. This all of course depends on the QB having enough time to set and throw a pass. Too many gut runs too. We just didn't have the OL for Smashmouth this season. Maybe we will next year or LeFleur had better start attacking the edges and calling more draws.

Wait?!? You mean the goal of the play design isn't to get tackled a yard short of the first down? Then why do our players always get tackled a yard short of the first down?

I feel like his system is great, but he may be the weakest link of it

Very up and down year. He tried to do things Wilson's way calling plays from the sideline which wasn't working. He was a little too predictable early on. After Wilson got injured, LaFleur went to the booth and things immediately started getting better. If he continues next season like he did the end of the season, his grade next year will easily be a B+ or above.

This had nothing to do with a rookie QB sucking balls

LaFleur did his job with what he was given this year. C+.

They better give him a lot more next year or everybody is going to get shown the door.

I do too. How can over half the guys voting possibly give A's and B's to the OC of a team that just put the last nail in the coffin of a 4 - 13 season by setting an all time low in offensive production for 62 years?

Because I think the problem was shitty QB play and shitty players, not the OC.

I think it's debatable whether or not he had a single game out of seventeen where his offense was productive for four quarters. Does he get a pass for that too? He decided which guys to put on the field, he called their plays, supposedly knowing their limitations.
