As a Pats fan specifically and an NFL fan in general, I can't wait for next years AFC East battle. I thought the Pats would hold on this year and they did, next year, I'm not so sure. I love Division games and I think there is a chance for any of the four teams to take the title. Next year, the AFC Least will be the AFC Beast. It should also be noted that the AFC East as a division, had more total victories than any of the other 7 divisions this year. As for this weekend? Can't wait to see how it unfolds.
If the Bills can build on what they had going in the 2nd half of the season they'll have a nice team next year. Miami's D will be a year older with a new coach and a big ? at QB. I don't think they'll contend for anything.
Miami is in trouble. Their roster is a mess, JT may retire and they have to bring in a new staff and system. The best thing that could happen to them is to tank completely so they have a chance at a franchise QB. Bills? Who knows. Probably another season around .500. The Jets should once again challenge the Pats. They will only get better under Mangini. The Pats will be back strong, with a ton of cap space, and two 1st round picks. As long as Brady and Belichick are in NE, the Pats will challenge for the division every year.
Word up on that, I can't wait until we blast the Giants off the field... wow. That's going to be superb.
Miami? No way... and I'm not sure about Buffalo as long as JP Loserman is the QB... maybe if they brought in a QB they'd have a chance
I have a theory that says both Miami and New England are in trouble. Miami's in trouble for obvious reasons. The coaching is in complete disaray and, aside from a few select but aging players, the team is loaded with mediocrity or worse. I believe New England lost much more than we had ever imagined when it lost Eric Mangini. An Eric Mangini is hard to find and I doubt that even Tannenbaum knew the value of what he was selling the day he walked into Woody's office with the idea of hiring Mangini. I'll even go out on a limb at this point and say that it could be decades before any team could find a guy with this much intelligence, work ethic, integrity, football savvy and dedication and Belichick had many years in teaching and grooming our present head coach under his belt because he recognized this. This explains Belichick's bizaare and almost near-panic actions (locking him out of the facility, snubbing him, etc.) when Mangini decided to take the job. The Belichick gameplan and success story relies heavily upon surrounding himself with talent and delegating responsibilities and assignments to that talent and generating results. When the Jets successfully acquired Mangini, it was a dagger to very heart of Belichick's organization. Think about it... it's almost as if they haven't been the same since Eric left. Oh sure, they went 12-4 and they made the AFC East, but don't they look more vulnerable today as compared to the absolute powerhouse they were last year and before? If this organization were to now lose Scott Pioli, for example, there's no question it would spell huge trouble, perhaps even put an end to the dynasty even. I don't doubt that Bill Belichick is talented enough to find a reasonable replacement for the likes of Mangini, but talent like him is hard to come by and finding an exact replacement will be very hard and take a good many years. I think, by season's end, many more will come to realize what the Patriots lost when they lost Mangini. Without exageration, losing Mangini could even be the beginning of the end of the Belichick era.
U never know....its a year to year thing most teams are an injury away from tanking or winning (i.e. eagles, phins) u just never know.....
What? With there D? The Dolphins have the oldest defense in the NFL. They wont even be a factor next season.
dam really 6 first day picks?? WTF!!! was it because of branch.....MUTHAFUKA the rich just get richer!!!
Do you just really love that nickname? because in actuality, he had a higher QB rating than Chad and threw for more TDs and less interceptions. Mock Losman all you want, but he improved a lot during the season, despite having a line that gave up 47 sacks. I think Losman, McGahee and Evans will be a tough trio.
yea i'll agree there.....they are scary indeed....was gonna hurt them IMHO is losing their FA's on Defense....unless they open the wallet
I assume you (Section 227) mean defensively? Pats were 6th in the NFL in defense this year (yards against) and 2nd in the NFL in points against (which is a much more relevant stat) Last year they were 26th and 17th, respectively. 2004 9th and 2nd. 2003 7th and 1st. I'd say the abberation was last year (destroyed by injuries) and this year's defense is more like the championship defenses of 2003/2004
