That last play aside, I felt that Zach's balls dropped today. Hopefully, he'll have another good game in Buffalo.
He also doesn't seem like the type who rips his players in private either and unless you are a very good HC you need to be able to do that. It's pretty clear that Zach has gotten the message that picks and sacks are really bad and are going to count against him. The question is whether he's been told he needs to operate within the offense or whether he is still running hero ball in his head in crunch time.
Just so we’re clear… we’re upset that Zach is taking less sacks and hasn’t thrown a pick in four weeks?
I love this Sunday actually ..my second favorites Raiders stay alive and Zach resurrected himself today
This. Not the end of the world, especially when the overall result for the game was fantastic. They all just need to be accountable, take the blame, learn, and move on. Nothing more to It really.
Lost by a bad decision. We're gonna be forced to lick Tom Brady's cheating balls and massage his hair plugs forever.
I didn't say that. I said Zach clearly had gotten the message that he couldn't throw picks or take sacks as he would be held accountable for those.
The Jets aren't a winning organization yet. They need more talent to get there. A win today would have been meaningless. A short term celebration, and then forgotten in a week or so. IMO today's game was great. Zach played well, the team played well and showed what they can do, yet lost and preserved the draft position. We've already most likely lost out on the Edge we need by winning a 4th game. The last thing we need to do is to win another game this season.
You kind of made the argument as to why a win wouldn’t really hurt. We’ve definitely lost out on the edge guys but to me everyone from 3 to 10 is interchangeable. If we are picking sixth there will be a very good receiver, cornerback, offensive lineman and potentially another very good Edge guy available. A win today would have done a whole lot to change the perception of this organization and especially Zach. At some point we have to care a whole lot more about becoming an attractive situation for free agents then we do about being in position to maybe get a good player. but I do agree that today was a pretty damn good day all things considered.
According to the metrics, the Jets had a 99.9% chance of winning the game in the moment. They lost, and it was "a pretty damn good day" by many poster's standards. That's just plain sad. The bar is soo freaking low I so hope one day to be beyond this, and maybe play a Dec/Jan game that matters
Our fan base has left me aghast with regards to the mentality that winning is no longer the barometer by which we judge a team. It’s all about draft position now, we are going to need 5 pro bowlers on offense and defense before we think it’s ok to win games.
Or some of us realize that year 1 of a new regime, rookie coach, rookie QB, starting a ton of rookies (some undrafted) on defense isn’t going to produce wins and that ending the season with the arrow pointing up is a very good thing.
