Watching film on this kid was fun. Big body high motor guy that is relentless at getting to the QB. Reminds me a lot of Nick Bosa and I could see JD falling in love with him. There is only 2 knocks I found against him and that was he is a bit stiff and that he played in a weak conference. Other than that he was dominant at tackling, rushing and making plays.

    Thoughts?

I’ll be curious to see how he does in the 3cone drill

He's less polished than Hutchinson and Thibodeaux. Might take a year or two for him to have 10+ sack seasons. I'm on the fence now.

He’s a reach in the first round.

You think a reach in the first round? Wow… from what I saw he’s a top 10 guy.

He won’t get a year or 2 around here. 10 sacks by the time he walks off the stage or he’s a bust.

He doesn’t use his hands as good as a first rounder should, that is huge when you are expected to be a first round pick.

Hutchinson never lets the offensive linemen put their hands on him. It’s one of the reasons he is going top 5.

A 1st round pick should be able to come in day one and make an impact not need two years to develop.

In my mind I think of Bosa, Hutchinson, Parsons, when I think of first round players.

    That’s just my opinion.

How often has taking the 3rd best edge in the top 5 worked out for teams? Not very I'd think. I'd be OK with using the Seattle pick for him (though I'd prefer WR) but no thanks on taking him with our first pick.

I don’t know about y’all, but I really like him. In particular his fluidity and his hand use. To me he reminds me of Shaun Ellis a little. Heavy hands. Pro size end. Country strong, but some real suddenness. I like his fit in our scheme, too. If you are only rushing four you can’t have any 235 pound speed rush ends

My ideal draft would be karlaftis and Hamilton and then trade two seconds to get linderbaum. Just saying: one pro end and two decade cornerstones. Sign me up.

How often is the third college DE picked the third best pro?

How often has a third edge went in the top five though?

Karlaftis isn’t flawless but he should have a pretty high floor.

Size is huge here. It’s the nfl. You need a big DE and he is that guy. Reminds me of JJ Watt. Maybe the others are more say Von Miller esque but Karalfits is a disruptor. That simple.

I like him, I think he’s a top 10 guy. High motor, size, speed and has instincts getting in the back field. I have no problem using the hawks pick on him

How did he play in a weak conference? They played Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Ohio State that all produce NFL offensive lineman routinely.

Weaker than usual. Ohio st wasn’t close to being as good as past years. Norte Dame had a mid season coaching shuffle and Wisconsin/Iowa were there usual mid level team they always are… plus quite a few bottom feeders
