For the most part, honestly, it comes down to drafting well. Draft good players means you have good cheap players, then you have good players to pay.
HUGE Rams win tonight......Seahawks have SOS schedule against teams 1 loss behind them, so we are still locked in the #8 spot. Jody Allen (sister of Paul Allen) may be tearing up the team or selling. Seahawks should now be eliminated from playoffs so maybe they even tank against Lions or Bears. Cardinals on road, others at home. Close game so hurts that much more for Hawks. BTW, Seahawk columnists and bloggers saying the trade for Jamal Adams the worst in Seahawk history and one of THE WORST in NFL history.
They basically will fire sell and move Wilson if possible. Carroll also has to be done. Jamal can enjoy the shitstorm there
We NEED to lose out and get one of the big two--Thibideoux or Htuchinson If we end up dropping MARK MY WORDS: Joe Douglas will get a massive turn on by Karlaftis workout numbers and draft him. He will be the next draft blunder by this organization. He is going to be a workout warrior and blow people away. And just like Gholston, look like Tarzan and play like Jane. Do NOT draft the Greek Freak....and yes that's his real nickname.
I'm cheering for Jets wins the rest of the way, but... - Jets lose to the Jags this week - Seahawks lose to the Lions the week after I'd imagine we'd have to be guaranteed #2 at worst, with a shot at #1, on top of Seattle's pick improving.
I have only HEARD about Thibideoux and Hutch....haven't seen most of their action. Know nothing about Karliftis though I admit to not following college ball as closely this year as in past years. Shaping up as one of worst drafts overall in years, with no QB's potentially and a very thin draft. Maybe only 10-12 guys with 1st Round Grades. Need to keep that Seahawks pick no higher than 10th. Preferably single-digits.
I am hoping that the SUM TOTAL of the 2 picks is no higher than 12. Anything less is a gift. Anything more than 15 is a disaster, IMO. So I'd be happy with Jets picking 4th and Seattle at 8th (4+8=12).
It's extremely rare that the value in the draft is 10-12 guys with first round grades. However if that is how it is then it is a dream situation for the Jets because they will be able to trade down in the first and get several quality picks in return. The #3 pick this year will probably be worth a 1st, a 1st next year and several 2nd's and 3rd's. That's the kind of windfall that a team with the talent issues the Jets have can't pass up. The Jets can trade down the top pick and use the Seahawks pick alongside that windfall.
I'm totally in favor of us losing out. Maybe just once we can not win meaningless games at the end of a lost season to barely miss out on a truly great prospect (Hutchinson). Losing out with Wilson playing well is the ideal end of this season for us.
Then why didn't they trade the #2 overall last year if they were thisclose in deciding between Sam and Zach ? That's what I don't understand. If you rate the 2 QB's as a toss-up.....then why not go with the guy who allows you to get a windfall for that #2 overall ?
I said it at the time and ever since - we were silly for not taking the niners deal - anyway what is done is done Agree that it is looking like a poor draft - it would be great to trade down but there are no stud QBs that people will want to trade up to get - dream scenario would be to get a pass rusher and more OL help (as I don't see Becton being a long term answer) and then if Wilson continues to play next year as he has this year then we should be in contention for the #1 pick in 2023 (though no doubt someone like Detroit will beat us to the punch)
To be honest I'd have been happy trading Sam and the #2, then possibly drafting Jones if he reached down to the new pick or signing someone like Minshew to be a placeholder for a couple of years (maybe both of these things). Building the roster before the new QB.
Minshew's better than half the starting QBs, I've never seen a QB get so little respect. Not from you in particular, from the whole league.
https://tankathon.com/nfl Jacksonville....if we lose to them, then they have some good teams that can increase their SOS....ditto Detroit (also has a tie) and Houston. I see a path for us to get to #3 very easily and #2 isn't unlikely, either. Need luck to get #1.
If we can get Hutchinson or Thibodeaux with our pick, a team could offer ten 1st round picks, and I'd decline. This roster needs game changers in the worst way.
