The Jets better make the playoffs next year or I’m done. I will sell my shitty PSLs for whatever I can get. Yes, I will miss the tailgates. I will miss my fellow tailgate buddies. The question I pose to the TGG, is it possible the Jets can make the playoffs next year?
Two things.. I also gave a deadline for my fandom and no, the Jets failed in getting it done. I'm not done, but I am distanced from them until amateur hour is over. Secondly, there is no way in hell the Jets make the post season next year unless the entire AFC comes down with Covid. This team is only marginally better than the 2 win version. We may have more talent, but hard as this may be to accept, less quality leadership. We come out of '21 with 4wins. We doubled the win total from last year but 4 wins is still 13 losses. With a more experienced CS and core, perhaps a quantum leap would be possible. As it is right now? Fuggedaboudit..
My good friend. You are one of the most loyal Jets fans I know. If Jets brought you to this level, it is a shame for Woody and Chris. That said, I don't think play offs is a dream if Wilson gains his mojo during off season and improve. We will add talent thru draft and FA. Saleh will have a full year experience to acclimate himself to being a Head Coach. But don't judge them by play off mandate. See if you see improvement. If Zach is doing same mistakes this time next year, if Saleh is not showing signs of maturing as a Head Coach, feel free to pull the plug. But if team is competitive week in week out, and is showing positive signs, give them another chance. My 2 cents!
Lower your expectations to 7 wins next year and playoffs in 2023. anyone know what divisions we play next year?
In almost every scenario I can think of, the ones that proclaim they are done, leaving, quitting etc never do. When you’re really dome you won’t say anything, you’ll just be done.
I would be happy if: 1. I was able to look forward to watching Jets games throughout the whole year. 2. If we were competitive most weeks. 3. If I didn't hate being a Jet fan 5 weeks into the season. 4. If we somehow avoid having most of our starters injured week in and week out. 13 starters injured out of 24. How is that possible? Some incremental progress that made the team noticeably better than watching the Gase Jets would be nice. It seems like we are living some kind of groundhog day version of a continous Jet fan nightmare.
I enjoy posting here, so I'm not going anywhere, but I'm much less invested in the Jets as a fan. Sure, I still root for the Jets to succeed, but I'm more likely to watch a quality primetime game like Chiefs-Chargers right now than spend a Sunday afternoon watching the Jets embarrass themselves.
I didn't watch them very much live last year, I couldn't stomach it and pulling for a draft pick just felt dirty. This year I started out kind of pumped but with realistic expectations, and now I'm reduced to watching them out of morbid fascination, with a tiny shred of hope here and there that they won't look like a Pop Warner team. I do think they can look a lot better with some roster adds and a less clueless approach to managing the team. I don't have a lot of hope that they will do that, but it's still there for now. The playoffs seem like an impossibility next year to me right now.
We’re already 50% better than last years team and we got to to see Mike White make history. It’s a low bar but the Jets covered imo.
The fact that the Biggest moment of joy (FOR ACTUAL FANS) was provided by a backup. What does that say about this franchise.
You feel my pain as a season ticket holder. Every fucking Sunday, my heart beats like crazy for this fucking team.
This really is Joe Douglas’ team #SBLII Edit: in case I was being too subtle, I was referencing that JD was part of the Eagles who’s fans biggest moment of joy was provided by a backup in Super Bowl 52
It takes 3 good drafts to transform a team. Every time we got a new GM, the clock restarted. I bet JD is getting 4 drafts to show significant change.
NFC North and I believe the AFC North. They also play their extra game against the NFC West on the road. Right now that appears to be Seattle.
Think playoffs is a pipedream next year: 1. Wilson would have to elevate from a historically bad rookie year--he's not even playing bad right now...he can hardly put together a drive. 2. Our blue chip positions like pass rusher and left tackle are both coming off of devastating injuries (Lawson and Becton), so you have to wonder what we are getting when they return 3. We are going to be the 3rd (maybe 4th) best team in our division alone--if Miami gets a Watson or Wilson--we would be 4th in our own division. 4. Even if we have a strong draft and free agency, it's still going to be an extremely young and newly built team--you're going to see a lot of chemistry issues early on again I think BEST case scenario next year is to see progress out of the 2021 draft class and 2022 draft class-- Then in 2024 hopefully we have a strong foundation to build on (even if we need to insert a new QB in case Wilson busts)
