It's a new low for me, responding to my own post that is, but I renew my concern made before yesterday's game...yikes...But, I think we can separate some issues here, we can be concerned about Wilson right now while still being hopeful he's our guy for the long haul if that's a path for anyone. I think the reality is he'll be the QB for at least one more entire season, if not two, so why not hope for the best..."Hope" does not mean rock solid belief but count me in as hopeful this kid turns it around...My reach argument for that is, he's so bad at what should be the easiest part of this job (i.e. completing the short/check down throws to relatively open players) that the issue has be mental (i.e. yips + stress) which has to be correctable...where the heck did his confidence go to the point that he's both missing open players and making the completions tougher catches than they need to be...I hope the kids fixes these issues as it's very concerning, very, very concerning right now! We can't go into the off season with the kid failing like this as it won't help his psyche to keep thinking about this level of failure for a whole year coupled w/ all of the questions he'll get asked leading up to next season about it...it will only compound the problem IMHO. Lack of team talent, injuries, lack of continuity does not excuse missing these gimme throws, no one else in the league makes throws like this, some make terrible decisions which lead to turnovers but starting QB's in the NFL consistently complete these throws or they don't start for very long...

best bet is to bring in a veteran QB IMO. Not a Flacco type. Like a Minshew type. You have Three guys competing White, ZW and that third veteran.

Focus on Defense, with first two picks.

One of the things people fell in love with about Zach is showing to be a weakness. Everything has to be on a rope with Zach, a laser.

He has no touch at all. So when he throws behind a receiver - yeah it might be technically catchable, but its hard for a guy to stop/turn and catch a ball going 80 mph in one second. I think thats what were seeing Cole/Crowder really getting upset about. He is throwing hard to catch lasers that make them look bad for missing them. When in reality they were thrown too hard and too off target.

No touch at all? Definitely not true. I'm too lazy to go pull clips but just look at the pass to Cole in OT vs the Titans.

It's not that he's never thrown a pass with good touch, it's that he usually doesn't have enough touch on balls that require them. He does it occasionally, yes, but most of the time he just rifles the ball wherever he wants to go with it.

We talk a lot about drops and how bad our WR's have been with them but we can't act like throwing a catchable ball isn't related to drops at all. On short patterns Wilson is often throwing missiles behind his target. It's usually close enough where they can get a hand or two on it but it's nowhere near a WR-friendly pass.

I think his bigger problem is ball placement and not how hard he throws it. If he leads these guys they would have no problem reeling in those hard passes.

If this is the case, I don't ever want to see us "waste" a high pick on a QB again. Better off just bringing in a few at a time with physical skills and going with one of them.

I was joking... but I wonder what Beck is doing with Zach as far as the mental aspects of the position.

It sure hasn't yielded discernible results as of yet... as least as far as I see.

I'm still in Zach's corner... yet concerned about his preparation and mindset. He looks more like an actor playing quarterback than a player
    who's comfortable in his performance.

Watching Aaron Rodgers last night... he is confident in his abilities and fluid in his performance.
Zach has got to play the game as it comes to him... not prance around trying to look good while playing a role.

The early slides on scrambles tells me a lot...

Chemistry may well have been an issue this week. Also with Ty, if the announcers are to be believed, was a last minute stand in for Walter who was slated to start before his last minute illness and so presumably wouldnt have practised the scripted plays so much, which might explain the drops to an extent. And im not sure that Adams is a great comp for the Jets' #3/4 guy. He's not and probably shouldn't be expected to be as good.

Truly, none of us want to start over again esp. after the failed Sam experiment. Also, I am pretty dam sure that the CS and FO is just as frustrated as we are and are probably searching for answers too. Personally, I think some of the posters that referenced the mental aspects of the game hit the nail on the head. Sack made the comment he is pressing possibly because of CS expectations, Fans, etc., media, etc. Who knows if that is an accurate assessment but it certainly lends credence to the fact that he now seems incapable of throwing short and medium passes accurately; that is, unless they are 100 mph?

I was dubious with the pick because of the caliber of teams he played and that his success was measured essentially on a one superlative season and a pro day. That being said, like other posters have suggested, we need to get a veteran's presences here or another QB to compete with him. He cannot and should not be handed the job next season based on this year's work, unless of course, he has an epiphany and plays lights out over the remainder of the season but even then, I want a bonified QB competition next year.

PS. isn't it sad that we are once again talking about next year... the life of a JET fan sucks.

So you're suggesting the guy with the biggest dick gets to start?

    Sorry couldn't help myself.

It worked with Johnson and Flacco under center as well.

When run correctly by the QB, this offense works. This has been proven by a former Super Bowl winner whose career is running on fumes, one perpetual practice team guy, and a multi-league journeyman.

Looks like he just needs some coaching up. I think Wilson will be ok but you have to look at the total team and the offense and defense stinks right now.

I agree some folks just want Joe Montana right out the box. I think he will make more progress coming into next season. A lot the Jets can do is get him a running game to help him out. Dropping back 20 times a game is too predictable. Get a pass catching RB, get a real TE not a slug like Wesco. I'm not sold on Corey Davis either he has been a bust as a free agent signing. So we can use a few more wide receivers too. Just targets Wilson can go to in clutch time. Give him confidence.

Both are not very professional of coach like. The Jets looked clueless every week. The players are slow to recognize plays. I didn't expect them to lead the league in sacks but I expected a much better defense than what they have right now.

I agree. He will be better with a full offseason program. But he needs some talent around him. The running game is nonexistent. He hasn't had many synergies with the receiving corp and now Moore may be out for the season. So two of the biggest offseason pickups are gone.

I keep seeing these comments throughout this thread. We get it the team sucks and it's a lot to put on a rookie QB no one is arguing that. However, none of that accounts for Wilson missing wide open receivers and throwing passes less than 10 yards into the dirt.
If he hit the target and they don't catch it THEN you can say "man get this kid some pass catchers and we got something". Can't say that. Doesn't matter how good the roster is if the QB can't hit open receivers
