Unfortunately he has. I remember saying at the end of last year he was a disappointment, didn't look like an NFL player and needed to show improvement. He got more time and clearly has not improved one iota.. he's actually worse than I could have imagined with more time.
Just playing devils advocate here... This CS has officially made Mims and Davis the worst players on the field. What does it say when you have seemingly two very gifted athletes reduced to nothing by a first year coaching staff. I'm convinced if the Jets had Adam Gase still as their HC they'd do just as well and potentially better than Robert Saleh. Two picks that Joe Douglas was counting on are officially busts. How come this CS can't work with these two? I'll bet Mims is a better player under Gase...
How in Gods name is this the coaches fault that Mims is as smart as a hamster and Davis is too scared to be a NFL player? It's wwaaayyy too trendy around here to blame the CS on literally everything. Well, this may not be your take... I really hope it's nobodies at this point.
I remember Brett Kollman, an analyst that I like lived both mims and Davis. He had Davis as the best safety in the class. I was psyched when we got them both. Damn you Brett.
Well, lesson learned I guess. The next time we draft a LB or Safety and the talking heads call him a "hard hitter who looks for contact" instead of seeing that as 'just words' we can now see that label as an excellent trait to have, as some players just don't have it. Wasn't he more of a free safety playing in the backfield, breaking up passes, ints, etc playing at Cal or Berkely or wherever he played? He's DEFINETLY not a box saftey looking to fuck people up. He is really fast tho, so there should be a place for him.
Just another horrendous draft pick from that JD draft class. Literally hit on NONE of the picks from that draft outside of MAYBE Hall and Mann (before he got his doors blown off week 1) Becton... sorry, but the verdict is still out on that mamajama.

Or they both might just not be great football players. Good athletes with some physical talent who could, maybe, be good football players with a bit of luck but actually turn out to lack anything but the physical gifts that give them that hint of potential. I know which I suspect is the case.
He’s quite possible the worst defensive player I’ve ever seen play for the Jets. Kyle Wilson is up there, so is Dexter whateverthefuck from a few drafts ago… but Davis is close. He’s not a football player. I’m alarmed our GM thought he was.
Davis is the worst defender on the field, hands down. Side note. Has Saleh/Ulbrich used Nasirildeen and Sherwood's versatility at Safety this year? I know Sherwood is done for the year (I don't recall if he did when healthy), but Nasirildeen is around. They obviously won't roam free like Davis, but I was wondering if anyone noticed them play anything other than OLB?
