Dude. Again. Whaaaat? I’d have massive respect if you just said you changed your opinion rather than resort to the whole “I was right as I knew it all along!!!” schtick.

proved to be a prophetic post. I was actually at the game…right where Zach ran in the TD

I think I’m quickly falling into the “he sucks” boat.

honestly, Zach was terrible. Watching live, he looked just as awful and inaccurate as he’s been all along. Still missing the short throws to the dump offs. Still doing STUPID ASS SHIT like throwing at a RBs back when he’s not looking.

even on some of those passes that hit Moore, the throw was behind instead of in front so Moore couldn’t keep running

seriously…if we were killing Darnold for inaccuracy, Zach is just as bad. Goddamn awful.

I hope he proves me wrong and actually develops, but right now I’m not seeing it.

he took sacks. He threw off target. He made stupid plays. The offense looked like shit all night…at halftime we had 77 yards total. Brutal.

funny how the receivers and OL looked so much better with White, Johnson and Flacco.

this kid is CLEARLY not ready. I only hope he develops, because to me, he’s looking like a damn bust. Only played a few games I know so still early, but I saw the same poor play today that we saw before he got hurt. You can call it rust. I’m calling it more of the same and he didn’t learn anything in the time off.

    Yeah I'm a little discouraged.

On the brighter side though I've been watching back some footage and I have changed my mind for the positive on one thing. The other big completion he made I couldn't remember before that I thought was a very poor throw was the one big play the Jets got all day to Berrios. After watching the replay about 50 times I'm not saying it was a great throw by Wilson (it clearly wasn't) but I'd say it at least passed with a D or D- and give Wilson credit at least for finding him.

When I saw it live during the game I thought it was way down at his feet but Berrios gave like a exaggerated little dip motion when he caught it that made it look worse than it was.

The other thing that is hard to not notice this season is that now a whopping 4 quarterbacks have gotten a bite out of the apple for the Jets. The other 3 guys all moved the team, looked like they were in command, scored touchdowns, Mike White made the Hall of Fame in one day.... There is only one of them that has been consistently uninspiring.

It'd be really nice for morale to see him beat Philly with authority next week and look good doing it.

he didn’t throw a pass because the coaches are not trusting him to not fuck it up. That was clear to me watching live.

honestly, we now have a QB where I’m scared for him to throw a pass, because more likely than not it’s going to be bad. A sack. A pick. A stupid decision. An inaccurate throw. Shit…he’s STILL missing dump offs to the flat. Come on.

sorry…I’m not all that excited that he “toughed it out” and “stayed in there” and won the game. He played horribly. Still. Against the damn Texans. He is not ready.

I hate to see the OL and the receivers regress because of him, but I guess we do need to keep playing him and hope he develops. But I’m getting tired of all these articles talking about how great he’s doing in practice and how he’s studying all night. Whatever that maybe, it’s clearly not translating to the field.

But leaving the game today, after seeing him in person, I was thinking, man, we still need to draft a QB next year…sad

I think watching three other QBs, two of whom haven’t played before, run this offense pretty damn well really showed that the problem is more Zach than LeFleur. That’s pretty crystal clear. Zach comes back and we’re back to sucking balls on offense.

Did he do anything good? That’s a pretty negative minded post.

The big problem is that the picture in the NFL is ever changing. What a quarterback sees with 25 seconds on the play clock is different from what they see with 6 seconds on the clock and wildly different after they snap the ball.

That’s not what it’s like in college especially when you’re playing against the lowest level of FBS like what Wilson was accustomed to playing against. The G5 teams that he played against routinely lined up in the 3-3-5 and didn’t move pre-snap while the plays were called from the sideline.

The development issues are understandable but it’s mind blowing that the Jets franchise thought that they’d be able to roll him out and let him flare 45 yard bombs out left and right and all would be good in the hood for the kid.

Quarterback in the NFL is a thinking man’s game. Not a game where the guy who throws the ball with the prettiest loft always succeeds.

Perhaps the worst thing that could’ve happened to Wilson was to have two-three average to below average quarterbacks put up big numbers in the same offense he’s struggling in.

this one I’m happy about. Fuck Cousins.

he is Matt Ryan lite. Great stats, lots of yards, high completion rate, and yet he never wins. Ryan at least got to a Super Bowl that they should have won if their coach kicks a damn field goal.

cousins hasn’t won shit. You always hear excuses…the defense, the running game, whatever.

im SO glad he turned down our guaranteed $90M.
Yea…he’s been better than anyone we’ve had, but he will never win a championship

So what do you make of that Vilma? Do you think he just needs some more time or are you in the "concerned" camp at the moment?

I'm all for being patient but for what we've got invested in this kid its hard for me to pretend things are looking good at the moment. I guess I just really expected him to look better today than he did.

People on here actually shilling for Kirk freakin Cousins? I know the Jets are bad but has the team actually sucked your souls out of your bodies? Kirk Cousins is garbage. Always has been, always will be. I don't care about his stats. He's another Ryan Fitzpatrick with slightly better numbers.

I’m in the heavily concerned camp. I posted earlier that I can live with him gun slinging and throwing late across the middle and forcing balls into windows he shouldn’t. But he’s not doing that. He’s air mailing 4 yard check downs and holding on to the ball with wide open receivers because he’s scared to pull the trigger as he has no idea where the defenders are.

He’s just not seeing the field at all. But at this point, the organization has completely botched this given the fact that Flacco, Johnson and White have all made the offense look competent.

They need to leave Wilson in now because it’s too late to sit him down for the rest of the year, but they need to reel it in and put a conservative offense into place. Run the ball early and often, throw a lot of screens and crossers and predetermine his reads for him. They’ve taken the kitchen sink approach and thrown it all at him in believing he can handle it and he cannot.

Hopefully he can put it together next year. And it was a smart move not playing him against Buffalo at home...because that would have been tragic.

sorry…most of the time I agree with your posts.

    here I have to disagree.

yes I agree way too early with Zach. He may yet develop.

But I am most certainly NOT buying the terrible blocking and playcalling excuses any more. The playcalling was just fine when White and Johnson and Flacco were playing. The blocking looked much better too. As did the run after catch yards that were only there a coup,e of times today (Berrios was a good one). But to me, Zach is the problem.

and no, he didn’t take what the defense gave him. He tried…but he failed. He missed a few throws to the flat. He consistently threw behind players. He had a couple good throws, that’s it. The run game saved us.

so I’m not sure what exact signs of progress you saw. I didn’t see many at all. He still made a STUPID bonehead play by literally hitting a receiver in the back. What the fuck was that. He’s literally looking at the guys back. Why he decided to throw that ball was beyond me.

He still looks inaccurate as hell.

he still holds the ball and takes sacks.

honestly I saw the same shit I saw before he got hurt.

so while he’s young and needs to play so we can see if he can develop, he hasn’t shown any signs of progress to my eyes.

I think it is telling that three other QBs, none of whom are superstars, have ALL looked SIGNIFICANTLY better than Zach. Like night and day better.

    he’s just not ready.

it’s early, so I’m trying to keep perspective, and I hope he DOES develop, but at the game today, I felt like he was lost, and it felt like we don’t have a legitimate NFL QB, so we’re back to these kind of piss poor offensive games where it’s all a struggle. Same old same old.

The smartest play would of been just hold on to the ball and live for another series but the INT was more misfortune than anything - most of the time the ball will hit the ground harmlessly but not with Wilson’s luck - it ricocheted high enough for a defender to catch before it hit the ground.

Of Wilson’s 10 INTs this year about half were deflected ….. BUT he really needs to work on his short passing game.

You do understand being a rookie, don't you? I have to say that it doesn't seem like it, and it seems instead that you have sadly gone over the edge of irrationality. The other three QBs have been in the NFL for at least 3 years. White had never started before, and Johnson hadn't started that many, but they've had a lot of coaching, a lot of practice reps, and have learned a lot. When Zach played to start the season MLF was awful, the OL was awful, the WRs were awful, the TEs and RBs were awful, and he had no chance, He lost confidence, and then got injured. He's still adjusting to reading more complex NFL Ds. The injury caused him to lose confidence in his knee, and he's still not over that. Not having confidence will cause him to hold the ball too long and take sacks. He's probably afraid of making a mistake, rather than just going out there an playing.

Zach is just starting on his journey to being a FQB.
