“He took Mangini’s players and made it work” I’ll never understand why this is a criticism when Mangini himself couldn’t make it work with his “own” supposed players.
Brett's bicep. That's the narrative. I attended the week three game of Mangini's last year... it was against the Chargers in San Diego. I was not impressed... But it was otherworldly seeing Farve in a Jets uniform...
Mangini’s players on defense were slightly below average under Mangini (17th if I remember correctly) then #1 the very next year under Rex. Mangini allowed a HOF QB to sabotage a promising season. Rex took a seemingly unready rookie QB to the AFCCG. But let’s suck Mangini’s dick because he’s some kind of pseudo GM in a HC costume. Folks always talk about Rex’s post Jets career but what has Mangini done since leaving the Jets. I really liked Mangini when he was here but this nonsense narrative of crediting him for Rex’s work, always ends up making me look and feel like a hater. Rex wasn’t perfect but his successes were his own just like his failures were too.
I kind of think that if Saleh is looking to challenge someone, he could find better candidates on his own team, maybe even his staff. Maybe they need to have a showdown - get Saleh into the studio!
Not for nothing, but what did you expect Saleh to do? Not say anything when he was asked about the comments? I think he's 100% right. I also think Rex is right. Does not mean Saleh has thin skin when he made the comments he did. Hell, I would have been pissed if he didn't say anything at all and just let Rex run him over. Hopefully this lights a spark, although I truthfully don't think it will.
Probably say something like "I've got bigger fish to fry than Rex Ryan." Because he does. They both have jobs to do; one is doing his well, the other has now allowed himself to be distracted.
Rex and Co. were horrendous at identifying and developing their own talent, that’s why it’s a criticism. Good on Rex for taking talent and maximizing it, but after those first two years, he wasn’t a good coach.
He said he knows where to find me and he always has somehting to say. Another words, good for him. If you got a problem come say it to me and we can discuss it. I don't quite get what he said that was wrong
Why does it feel like people are taking the "he knows where to find me comment" as if Saleh is calling Rex out for a fist fight lmao
What was wrong was he's not in a position to be feuding with media people when he's failing at his job. Calling out commentators should be about #273 on his "TO DO" list.
In conclusion, we should hire Mangini as the GM and Rex back as the head coach as per the Saleh brothers recommendation.
This Is the clear conclusion and answer. It's time to come full circle with this undeniable prophecy.
Til this day I still don’t know how we managed to win 6 games in 2012. In 2013 Rex Ryan went 8-8 w/ rookie Geno Smith, Mr. Let Me Run Out of Bounds the LOS & Sack Myself. Identifying talent is a GM’s job. Maybe he needed better GMs. He’s no HOFer or not everyone’s cup of tea in terms of personality, but he wasn’t a bad coach here. We as Jets fans intimately know bad coaching; Rex ain’t it.
