Saleh said it's this year only and beck did it as a favor but he has a business to run. also IIRC beck chose to do that to be by his family so it's not a long term thing. I'm guessing the jets paid him very well to be a QB coach the rest of this season. also shows JD is putting in work to build this roster
Football above all other sports is about systems and specialization. The talent - outside of the absolute top tier - is almost fungible. It makes so much sense to build a real football think tank.
Reminds me of Brady in Tampa Bay. They have his personal trainer on the staff because Brady wants him there. Not only is it going above and beyond for your guy, but it shows that this staff is mature enough to put their ego aside and bring in help from the outside if it benefits the player
This is the BEST move the jets have made this year!!! By a mile. I bet it was expensive as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I read where Beck was on headset during the game Sunday. With LaFloor up in the booth... I wonder who's giving White the plays in his ear. It ain't Saleh...
Here's a snapshot of the bench right after Mr. White threw his first interception... after completing his first 11 passes. If that's John Beck to the left... then he is INVOLVED.
Looks like Beck does not run the quarterback school where he has done his work with Wilson (also Flacco) but is a "Motions Mechanics Instructor," in a program that takes a multi-angled approach to developing quarterbacks. About (train3dqb.com) This, from the spring, may provide a bit more insight. John Beck’s work with Zach Wilson, others, turns into marketing rocket - Deseret News And the picture of him from 3DQB probably is a match from the bench picture with White from Sunday.
I was wondering how this might work and how it would impact off season workouts. Have the Jets officially announced in what capacity he's been hired? Edit: ignore the second bit. It seems to have been answered.
Very good point. Maybe that is why they have said something to the effect he hired for the rest of the season with the expectation that he will not be a part of the team in the off-season and can still work with Zach. I would question if Beck's contract expires at the end of the year when would he be eligible to work with Zach this off-season? After the last game or at the start of the new league year? But, I think it also was likely done to fill the void of Knapp passing and give Zach someone on the sidelines to talk with between series.
