they didn't. I seen a lot of the same plays. the difference was the o-line blocked better (or maybe cincy's pass rushers weren't as good) but anyway white had more time and was more decisive then zach and also carter and ty made a ton of players miss tackles for YAC
As much as White is the flavor of the day so to speak, I’m really impressed with Carter. Good hard runner, breaks tackles, a tad small but fast. I envision the Jets drafting another RB to mix and match with him ( Ty stays on for third downs) - another tough runner - and the Jets have a good young three headed attack. I don’t envision them bringing Coleman back and Perrine really hasn’t flashed much when healthy.
Yes, I've been a Jets fan since they were the NY Titans in 1962. And if you fail to see any evidence that Wilson is better than any rookie QB we've had in decades, you're just being willfully blind to suit your own agenda. That said, Wilson is a rookie, and is dependent on lots of factors outside his control, so maybe he does fail, I can admit that, but that's far different than actively rooting for him to fail. And while I used to respect your opinions a great deal, I'm gonna side with Douglas as to whether the first round was a bust or not.

Thanks. Just taking a step back and not subjecting myself to the silliness that permeates this board when the Jets are losing. I'm not saying anyone isn't entitled to come here and vent, but I don't have to listen to it. I figured it was safe to dip my toes back in after the Jets upset over Cincy, but I expect it will be back to bitching and moaning, and calling for everyone to be fired after Thursday.
I haven't seen evidence that Wilson is better than any rookie QB we've had in decades. First of all, I'd take a pre-injury Pennington over him in a heartbeat. And second, while Wilson has shown the ability to make throws that the other rookie QBs we've had can't make, those throws are only a small part of being a good QB. And in the more important parts, like consistently throwing the ball to the right spot, Wilson has been bad. Doesn't mean he can't be great eventually, but so far he hasn't stood out over the list of QBs who've failed here.
I like him better than rookie Sanchez because at least Wilson is failing at trying to carry the offense; aside from two playoff games, which were luck more than anything else, rookie Sanchez was failing at just being a game manager.
Pennington was a rookie in 2000. That was 21 years ago, more than 2 decades. So we can remove him from the discussion.
Pennington did not play as Rookie and rumors were flying around that he was a bust. By Pennington's own admission things did not click until year 3
I think Josh Johnson deserves a "shout out" for performing very well when White got hurt. He was able keep the ball moving, pressuring the Bengal defense. He even threw a TD pass to Mims which was dropped. Nice job Josh.
I recall Curtis Martin said something around the time of the Denver game in Pennington's 3rd year. He said we used to watch Pennington practice and we were all like no way can this guy play in the NFL. While Martin did not specifically say it was clear he was saying that from observing him in practice for 2 years they felt that Pennington was so lacking in arm strength that none of the players believed he could function as a NFL QB. Martin seemed to be quite shocked by Pennington's success.
He actually had some really nice drives in the preseason as well. Looked well in control of the offense.
Wilson shouldn't have been playing, he should have been holding a clipboard like Pennington did, and hopefully he doesnt play again the rest of the season. "consistently throwing the ball to the right spot" is a weakness I agree, but its something he can learn in practice
