(5) Adam Schefter on Twitter: "Cardinals’ DE J.J. Watt will undergo what is now likely to be season-ending shoulder surgery, sources tell ESPN. No date set yet for surgery. Watt hurt his shoulder in the second quarter Sunday and still managed to play the rest of the game with the injury. https://t.co/Y2pzFV8sFQ" / Twitter
I honestly think some of these guys are too muscular and big, strong, fast for their own good. Maybe modern sports science should keep their athletes with a bit more body fat then some of these athletes actually have.
Saquon Barkley case in point. I think one loses flexibility to some degree when packing on muscle and this is key for avoiding sprains/tears.
Dude has an extensive injury history J.J. Watt - Injury History (draftsharks.com) I love the grit and intensity of JJ but I think he's about at the end. He loves to work-out and will try and come back from this. Maybe he gives it a go for one more season in AZ next year to chase the trophy. Was a fun player to watch in his prime
Yep. Great player, Great dude, and I love the intensity, but it looks like it may be time to hang up the cleats.... too bad as he's one guy in the NFL I'd like to see get a ring
I remember reading something like this about Blair Thomas back in the day. There was so much worry over whether he had recovered from his serious knee injury, then I read a story saying he may have over-rehabbed it and lost flexibility. The article said something about him being 'wound so tight' he couldn't play to his full potential.
