This game isn't on WIlson This game is on Saleh. He is going against a rookie QB. I expect our HC to show something against rookie QB Don't judge WIlson, judge Saleh this Sunday.
Based on the two team's performances so far this should be a tight low-scoring affair, likely won by the Pats in the 3rd quarter with the 4th quarter just preserving the status quo. No idea how it will turn out but if the Pats lose you will start to hear whispers in New England that maybe Belichik's time is coming due.
I get your point, but Saleh and Ulbrich have done a fantastic job with our defense. MLF and Wilson need to string together drives early in the game -- much more important than Saleh and his D.
Things we need to see this game: 1. Wilson doesn't turn it over--dude has thrown a pic every game he needs to stop 2. Pressure on Mac Jones--the Pats oline is banged up 3. Goes without saying--a productive first half of football 4. Elijah Moore do something and the receiving core as a whole stoop dropping balls 5. Run the football effectively
We’re starting a rookie at Mike and he’s going to be calling the shots. Pair that with the fact that Belichick is a genius and Mac Jones is only good at hitting short passes inside 5-10 yards and we’re gonna get picked apart. Won’t be Saleh’s fault though.
One bad thing is the Pats are getting 3 starting OL back. Their OL has not been this healthy since they played us in week 2. While it looks like we will have 8 total starters not playing due to injury.
NO 3rd and long conversions given up by the D. Establishing the run game so we can keep ZW's throws under 25 thereby upping our TOP considerably. MLF needs to come up with a better 1st half script.
I think we have to first hope that we force them into a 3rd and long. They are going to be able to pick up 4-5 yards any time they want considering their offense and the glaring hole in the middle of our defense.
Robert Saleh is responsible for the whole team, not just defense. He is not Rex Ryan. He needs to help Mike LaFleur and Jeff Ulbrich get each player in the best position to win. The Week 2 approach was to be aggressive, and it backfired BIG TIME. Hopefully tomorrow the Jets play it smarter and allow the defense to dictate the game. They need to start playing complimentary football, which they really have not yet in 2021. @Brook! is right though: this game is not on Zach Wilson. None of them have been, if you look at it from a coaching or organizational perspective. The team and coaching around Zach need to lift him up. It's a team sport. The team will need to be on the same page and play well to get a win tomorrow. The defense needs to step up, but the offense needs to put points on the board too. If the Jets get a team effort, they are more than capable of beating the Patriots.
It’s a mix of Zach and the team not executing. The play from GVR, WR drops, Zach missing gimme throws, and Mike LaFleur’s inability to set Zach up for success early in the game have been crippling for the offense.
It will truly a very damning indictment of Robert Saleh if the Jets come out and go right back to playing inferior football on offense with virtually no scoring in the 1st quarter. If the OL plays like they did in the 1st 3 games, if the receivers continually drop very catchable balls. Given the fact he has an extra week to prepare the team and 5 previous games to analyze and interpret, New HC or no he should be EXPECTED to get the Jets to present a much harder challenge than in week 2. Change a few starters, take a different offensive approach, WHATEVER it takes this team should start playing MUCH better than weeks 1-5. Any HC that's worth his salt should have their team READY to play hard and be successful if they have an extra week to prepare. If you fail in this scenario, you've failed being a HC 101....
Every single game that Van Roten plays, I lose more and more faith in the entire organization down. He's dreadful. This game is about the running game on both sides. Mosely likely won't play. We need to run the ball well (we won't) and not turn the ball over (we can do). I was listening to WFAN this morning and I believe it was Costello that said New England really didn't confuse Wilson too much with coverages, he just threw bad balls. I expect a good bounce back from the kid and a much better gameplan all around to keep this to a 19-14 (Pats leading) type game heading into the 4th quarter.
I keep reading that we have too many drops but I don't recall us having any more drops than other teams. Sure some have come at bad times but it seems in line with most other teams.
We have tons of drops dude. The receivers have been terrible. Not every drop has been a good ball so there's that, but the receivers don't get a pass.
