What an a$$ - Edwards lashes out at media...

Gary Myers in today's NY Daily News ranking the playoff contenders...

    http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/484911p-408285c.html

Funny that he wrote that, cause it seems as though the KC media was thinking the very same thing.

Is Sermon Edwards a broken record or what? How many times did we hear this schtick:

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/football/nfl/01/01/bc.fbn.surprisedchiefs.ap/index.html

I wonder if he held up the letter from the Commissioner?

It is amazing that no one has exposed this fraud...this charlatan...this snake oil salesman for what he is - MEDIOCRITY.

For what it worth on Mike & Mike today Myers said that we have the BEST chance of pulling the upset amongst the 8 teams playing this weekend.

I have been a big critic of Herm Edwards but I happen to agree with everything you bolded in that article and the rant was a message to his players and it's a typical Herm message. What's wrong with that? He took he's team to the playoffs and is trying to despel the notion that they don't belong. Personally if I was a player I would be happy that my HC thought we belonged. Do I think it's necessary, no but that's Herm and if it works for him, more power to him.

Herm is happy taking 9-7 teams to the playoffs. Not a suprise.

As much as I can't stand Herm, I agree with him here. They may have crapped out late in the season by losing three straight in December, but they recovered, took care of business and won their last 2.

It's a lot better than what Jacksonville, Cincy and Denver were able to do

i agree with Winston. like him or not, he said exactly what he should have said. his team won, the others didn't. Herm is who he is.

I'm more than happy with how things worked out, but Herm was hired to get his team to the playoffs, and he did. They've had a tough season, but my friends there all still like Herm. But of course most of us did after the first season too....

Certainly reads like vintage Herm to me. Same "us against the world" theme. I'm surprised he's not taking the "nobody respects us" route. Either way, the Chiefs got in and IMO, stand a better than even chance of beating Indy in the first round.

I thought the letter in 04 was bullshit grandstanding but there really isn't much to disagree with here. He's correct and he managed to avoid any ridiculous metaphors while talking for a pretty long time. Maybe he's improving.

Agreed... As much as I hate to say it, I agree 100%. Indy will not be able to stop LJ as he rushes for 150+ yards and 3 scores...

But then they will lose and Herm will continue to NOT MAKE IT TO THE BIG one..

Despite Herm's record... he's right. You're given 16 games to do what it takes to get into the playoffs... we all know how annoying Herm's style is, getting us into the playoffs (and now the Chiefs) by a thread... but... he still does it... he needs to be given credit for that much at least. He's right that the finger shouldn't be waving at him, but rather the *FOUR* other teams who could have gotten in by taking care of business... none of which did. KC was the only one of the five that did, so therefore they deserve their spot... even if it was the biggest reach.

He's right that they won the game that they needed to. But it doesn't change the fact that he's a schmuck.

It's hillarious how my prediction of Larry Johnson complaining about the offense came true. (I said he was going to regret being happy after Herm told him he was going to be carrying the ball a lot this year.)

The only real question I have is this: What did Herm mean when he said:

Herm is right and now 4/6 in making the playoffs. Not bad.

Regardless of how, Herm got his team into the dance. While you may not like his coaching (or think he is a good coach), get annoyed by his rhetoric and/or think he is very (very) lucky the guy has managed to be more successful than most coaches in the league the past 6 years.

(I don't like how Herm left, however, I am happy he did.)

KC collapsed last year. Not this year. Any team who makes the playoffs in the AFC deserves credit.

Well said. Bottom line is they won their game when they need to do so. Just like we went out and beat the Packers with Herm when we needed to do so. Backing in (if it truly exists) is when you lose a game you need to win but everyone else loses too so you still get in. Though even in that scenario if you win enough games throughout the year that's all that matters, no matter how early you do so. If those other teams deserved to be in the playoffs they would've won more games.

It reminds me of how he and the Jets were criticized making it in '04 then they went out and beat SD and nearly beat Pitt.
