I voted for the completion after the fumbled snap. I went from “here we go again” to “alright!” in the blink of an eye.
Agreed. I don't have confidence he'd make those throws either. I wish Sam well at Carolina but he doesn't read a defence like we saw from Zach on Sunday. Zach already appears that more advanced at this early stage. The upside is high. Looking forward to seeing him in person for the first time on Sunday.
I remember that distinctly - the crowd got deathly silent until that ball landed in his hands then a wild eruption …lol
I picked the one to Cole, it was just bang on the money, a perfect throw, a throw that gives me hope for the future.
Sam makes that td throw to cd, if he has the wherewithal to wave him deep. We’ve seen him throw dimes rolling right. the ot throw to Cole, it’s a very short list of qbs that make that throw. Rodgers, mahomes, Herbert, Russell Wilson is about it off the top of my head.
Since my favorite wasn’t among the passes, forced to vote “boring throw” 10 minutes left in the second quarter. At our 25 yard line. First two plays netted zero yards. 3 and 10. down 9-0 after 20 minutes of play. I figured another 3 and out. Lo and behold a lazer on a 13 yard PAST the sticks out route to Davis. Told my wife then and there, zachs rolling. My absolute favorite play of the game. And as they say the rest is history. Lam
Yup. Kinda like his TD to Davis in his first game.....Davis had to slide under it. Cole's play was very similar.
It's nice when converting 3rd & long isn't some pipe dream. That drive had some nifty playcalls... a good mix of run&pass...and led to a td. Once they start screwing together some sustained drives... everything elevates.
No way. Sam would have underthrown Davis by 10 yards or would have thrown it right to one of the defenders.
the dacis one was the most impressive. it's a throw maybe at best 3 other QBs in the NFL can make. the 2 to cole though might be the best ones. espcially the bucket drop one in OT on 3rd and short. also shows the confidence MF has in zach to allow a play like that to be the call. most teams will roll out and do a short pass with option to run or a quick slant
You convinced me. I just voted the 3rd & 2 toss. Pretty wild that they're putting everything on the menu for Zach... especially after his weak showings in the previous three games. That shows a lot of trust in the kids ability to disseminate defenses and let it rip. Exciting as it may be... and it is... I'd like to see more emphasis on balance. Being a one dimensional offense is not the blueprint for success in the NFL.
I don't think Sam has the arm strength to make either of the deep throws to Davis and Cole. The one to Cole ZW was clocked at running 14 mph while throwing it 50 plus yards. The one to Davis had some velocity on it. I could see Sam making the Crowder play. Sam made a good number of splash plays but they were more intermediate type of off platform throws like the TD against SF to Berrios. But the one thing Sam does better is run the ball. He might not be as fast as Zach but he is a better runner. That TD run against the Broncos was a beautiful run.
When that ball went up I was like fuck that's going out of bounds, then I seen it just drop down and cole coming under it and was like holy shit no way, then I seen the rubber pellets flying up on the toe drag and was like WTF how did they make that throw and catch. it was some next level play right there. we all know zach has a cannon (well except for a few people here) but that touch and accuracy and cole's ability to make the catch, give zach a nice window and toe drag was impressive.
Sam was really good with zip outside the numbers and as an improvisor but his downfiled accuracy was weak and he didn't have the strongest arm. above average for sure but not zach level. I don't think sam makes either throw to cole or the davis one.
I think all Jet fans, including the ones at the game, had the same thoughts. "How did he do that?!!!"
