Well he ended up almost getting the colors right. I was thinking last night that given all this hindsight now probably the best thing for the Jets to have done back then given the Gase disaster and the rocky beginning to the Saleh era would have been to hire Bruce Arians to reinforce coach Bowles and kick him over to Defensive Coordinator. Things like that usually never happen but in that rare case it probably would have worked well and we discussed it at the time. I can't imagine the Jets wouldn't have ended up ahead of where they are at the moment.
I think most established head coaches in the NFL steer clear of the Jets because they find out through the pipeline what an amateurish headache the Jets owners are. No way Bruce Arians would have come here. The Jets have to hire new HCs because of that I think. I thought that trend was over when McCarthy showed interest, but now he's in Dallas so he apparently loves meddlesome owners.
I don't think Arians has much to do with the success of that team down in Tampa. He always struck me as a mixture of arrogance and idiocy that I never liked. He's coached some good teams though so maybe I'm wrong and just don't like the guy.
