Can we trust the front office to even make the correct pick? This teams scouting department is truly awful.
The biggest issue I see is that the Jets do not have a veteran QB that can mentor ZW. I understand that this is a young team and looking to build through the draft, but you need leaders to mentor these young players and I don't see it getting any better the rest of the way. I see us going 0-17 with maybe a lucky win, maybe.
It's a fair assessment at this point. My biggest gripe is not having a veteran quarterback. Wilson has no business being on the field with this team right now. I'm not sure if it's him, the crappy offensive talent, the crappy OC playcalling, or all of the above, but he needs to be sitting on the sidelines behind a vet QB and learning. We simply don't have one and we should.
Well we're kind of stuck with McGovern who sucks but isn't the worst player in the world. Van Roten should've been upgraded for sure but at the very least he should've been planted on the bench after week one. I don't really care if we have to put that nobody Cameron Clark in, we need to try something to help that spot. The Jaguars are terrible and coached by an egotistical moron and they look much much better than we do. I had a lot of their game on today and they're at least somewhat competitive.
It's weird that people just see.. IF we kept Sam. Without taking Into account the rest of the OP and the amount of draft picks we could've had for the number 2 picks. The possibilities and options we could've had towards actually UPGRADING this fucking team. Which Is just sad honestly. Considering JD has "attempted" to reshape this OL. JD has "attempted" to add weapons on the outside. JD has "attempted" to bring In a legit FQB. Yet, we look worse than last year on offense. Running the "best offense In the world" to boot. So much blame to go around. It hurts my brain. Anyway. Looking back Is a fool's errand at this point. We can't go back. I understand the sentiment, I get It, truly. It's pointless now though. Now. We have what we have. God help us all.
OP’s post is way too long for an “I told you so”. Anyway, Darnold would have crashed and burned behind this line with these weapons and play calls. People would be blaming Douglas for not dumping Darnold and drafting a QB. Either way, the results would be the same, so it doesn’t really matter who’s “right”.
This thread just gave me another avenue to bitch. People who say we could have kept Darnold aren't worth a response. It's a dead horse.
Tom Brady would struggle on this team never mind a rookie… we are in a full rebuild fellas… the 90’s cowboys went through the same hard times. Aikman especially. If by year 3 in this rebuild we aren’t competing then hit the panic button.
It's hard to fathom. I don't think we can blame Saleh. The GM needs to get a vet. Unless Saleh thought they were fine. One of them, maybe both, F'd up big time though.
I don't see why we need an active veteran--we can get a coach to do the same thing. Actually since Kavanaugh came on board Zach has shit the bed. Kav was not a good QB, he didn't help Sanchez, and I don't see any benefit from him now. But there's got to be decent QB coaches out there.
I've been saying since the preseason, get friggin' Foles! JD could get him for a damn song now! He's a 3rd stringer on the Bears. He may not be a savior for the team, but he's a smart guy and a quality leader who would be a great mentor for Zach, and he'd probably be able to lead the team pretty well if Zach went down.
