Over the 2nd half of the season, our defense gave up the fewest points of any team in the league, with 102 points or 12.75 points per game. You can argue we played weak offenses, but its still a great accomplishment considering how bad our D was the first half of the year. This is a true testament to Mangin's coaching ability,as our defense improved the second half of the season and not coincidentally, after our bye week.
Yes, I read that also. I truly believe that Mangini is a freaking genious. I think that he is so freaking smart, and he is going to make so much money coaching the next 15 years, that he eventually is going to put together a capital venture group and eventualy buy the team from Woody.
yea thats sweet man eh? did anyone else realzie something about mangini when he was with the patriots. the fact that without mangini the patriots wouldnt have won the two other superbowls... listen up, the second superbowl and third, the patriots had a very injured secondary, putting in guys named GAY, and yet bellechik managed to produce an excellent secondary oh yea, did i forgot to mention mangini was the secondary coach
Everyone keeps repeating this but I don't think it's true. Baltimore has given up: 7+7+17+10+13+0+10+26 = 90 or 11.25 points per game in their last 8 games.
i think it was since out bye week -- which would give balt an extra game where they gave up 20+ pts -- i am guessing that i their math -- either way under 14 pts a game gives us a shot against anyone
we played low calibur opponents. its less an accomplishment and more like they were doing what had been done to those teams by the rest of the league. for them to be a playoff team they took care of the buisiness in front of them, but they arent a great defense. ample...yes. but not anything above avg.
You know what I see? Him coaching 10 seasons with the Jets 103-57 record, a couple of rings and he'll head for the announcing booth and when Madden is gone the new football video games will be called Mangini 2020!
Then Belli walks into his grandkids room and they're playing Mangini 2020... He gets so mad he rips the Playstation 11 from the wall and throws it out the window...
You have to credit Chad for sustaining long drives, limits the amount of possesions for the opponent and gives the Jets D a chance to rest. But no question the Jets have began to mold into the 3-4 very nicely. D-Rob has come a long way, he may have taken a tiny step back last Sunday. Would love to see him step up against the Pats
If you rewatch/analyze the games or just remember, our defense seemed to "Click" towards the end of the Cleveland game and on. Right after "Miller Time". It seems the defense tightened up to get back into the game, IMO that is when we altered/augmented our scheme. We became more aggressive and it looked as if the players were upto the challenge. The difference is night and day... My Only gripe right now is that our CB's are asked to play read and react and not really having an opportunity to "Break on the Ball".. But we can't be picky especially when you take into account that this is the 1st year under this scheme... Actaully, pretty friggin amazing. Partially due to Mangini realizing he needed to tweak the 3-4...
you know, that avatar has gotten me on more than a few occasions. i read this post, and was like, this pats fan is a complete retard! he thinks hes cutting mangini down. then i looked at the avatar, and then i realized who the retard actually was....me....
Regardless of whether or not we're first, its good to see we've improved defensively. I recall being pretty pissed off a couple of games early in the season over our defense.
I always knew that it would take time for the 3-4 to become effective as the players adjusted and stuff. Hopefully we concentrate enough on defense during the draft to truly put us in the top end of defenses
