The kid finally has begun to gain the confidence of Jets fans. I think the Texans game was a turning point. The coaching staff finally took off the shackles and put him out there for a 45 plus yard field goal. Glad to see Nugent turn it around
Inside the 30, he's now a lock. I'm far more concerned about Graham's holding problems. But he looked good today.
yep big surprise im really happy with him.. the tennesee game scared me. a lot. but now with what 18 in a row? plus the game winner in bad weather in miami. gotta love it.
Yep, after the week 1 disaster, his only other miss was a 50+ yarder. That's pretty impressive. He had a great year.

I'd just love to know where his leg went to for a season before he found it again. Mike Westhoff must have done a Yoda impersonation in there somewhere to get him back on track. After game 4 I wanted to never see Nugent again. Now I'd like to see him kicking for the Jets until he's 40. That's a testament to Westhoff and Mangini and Nugent, cause I'd never have seen it coming.
He made the 50+ yarder I wanted, 2 this year, including that 54 yarder...And the all important game-winner last week that he so needed to get the confidence from Jets fans. Missed 6 FGs his rookie year, pretty good. And 3 this year? After his horrible Week 1, nice job Nuge.
Yes, and I am very happy with Nugent. I'm glad he rebounded from a very bad week one and then ran with it.
just goes to show even though ur just a kicker he was still a rookie and needed time to develop. now he is looking like the kicker we thought we drafted.
He'll never have the same deep kicking ability like he had in college as his distance has struggled w/ the NFL ball compared to the college ball. But w/ that said, he is an extremely accurate kicker. Ive said over and over again, at the Meadowlands it is more important to have a kicker who is accurate, than one who has a big leg. Anything beyond 45 yards is a crapshoot w/ the swirling winds, and therefore it is very important that you have someone who can hit the one's from 40 in. Nugent can do that...and extremely consistently, making him the perfect kicker for this team.
Nugents 6 in the NFL in kicking percentage...a very good season that will hopefully silence the haters. Plus he has shown his distance with his 54 yarder and the 52 that had another 8 on it. I'm happy he let his play do the talking this year.
