I'm with you, can't miss on these picks! My hope w/ Mims is that we haven't missed and that he earns more playing time or is traded for close to equal draft capital so we can almost do a "redraft" for this pick with the new coaching staff firmly installed now.

Until our offense looks like it belongs on an NFL field we’re going to continue to complain about Mims not getting a chance. Special teams play is fine but means very little vs. making good use of a possible starting WR you just used a premium pick on last season who showed something.

We also had 4 worthless tight ends active yesterday...I honestly don’t understand it. I watch Redzone and some games it feels like I’m watching a completely different sport. You need to score points in the NFL these days over all else and you need playmakers to do it, especially when you have a rookie QB.

Saleh just said j Smith is the starting gunner. To me that sounds like he is a lock for the 48 each week

so likely 6 then. Crowder, moore, and davis are the starters. cole is the primary backup for all 3 spots, berrios is the slot specialists plus returner. smith is the gunner along with (CB) hardee. all the WRs have a role so mims is the odd man out and someone else will be inactive to accommodate crowders return.

If Mims turned down playing on ST's, then he should be traded. The idea is to do whatever you can to get on the field and if that means playing ST's, then play on that unit and hope for the best. I don't see why he couldn't return KOs.

I think he’s just. Or good at it, or better than Smith at it at least

I wouldn't be shocked if Mims is traded and frankly, I kind of hope he is traded. This whole situation has really rubbed me the wrong way and I truly do not believe that if this coaching staff thought he would have a positive impact, they would continue to bench him.

I don't see how he fits on this starting rotation. Every team starts three dedicated receivers, Corey Davis, Keelan Cole, and Jamison Crowder. Berrios is a kick returner and Jeff Smith is our starting gunner. That's 5 receivers on the starting squad, which is the standard number to dress for a game.

Where does Mims fit? He doesn't play special teams and Cole is a better player than Mims.

Jumping around this thread a bit but I’m wondering if theres been anymore information on what Crowders not playing.

That’s more of a head scratcher to me than Mims, assuming Crowder is healthy. I cant think of any benefit to keeping our best receiver the last couple years out of the lineup.

It’s not personal, people are reading too much into this. He is essentially battling Cole for wr4. Right now Cole is considered better. Mims might have more upside but it’s not a stretch to think Cole is a better wr right now. That’s it, that’s the entire situation.

I really hope you're right FJ. Otherwise, our rookie CS has a lot of growing to do.

Have to develop young players like Mims. It's the only way this franchise will ever rise from the abyss. Otherwise, it will be groundhog day around here forever. He's got talent. Not sure what the real story is. Front office and coaching staff HAVE to learn from this kind of situation. Otherwise they will be gone in a few years also. Can't keep fleecing these young, promising draft picks. This franchise is horrible right now.

At Denver against that great D. They will go another week without scoring a touchdown.

yet they will be keeping a talented wide receiver who could help with that in street clothes

trevon wesco though... he will play, thank goodness

This is absolutely more of a Crowder/Moore/Berrios/Smith issue then a Mims issue IMO. Those 4 players a very redundant and two should be inactive each game day to allow for Cole & Mims. The excuse right now is special teams value, which is BS. This coaching staff needs some strategy here.

IMO Berrios and Jeff Smith should be the odd men out due to their redundancies (jets basically have 5 slot receivers as Cole is versatile as well). If Moore and or Crowder get injured, we can activate Braxton or Jeff

    Depth chart should be:

    Davis, Crowder, Moore, Cole, Mims

    X- Davis/Cole/Mims

    Z-Cole/Mims/Davis/Moore

    Y-Crowder/Moore/Cole

    this.

kroft, griffin, brown, wesco… four sides of the same worthless coin.

sit one of them and play mims on some run and PAs plays … utilize his blocking ability and ability to win over the top in one on one situations.

I'd like to have at least some anecdotal evidence that Mims isn't putting the work in or he's refusing to play special teams. It doesn't sound believable. To me, it looks more like we've got 4 scrappy slot receivers with special teams experience/expertise and rather than making a decision about which of the two to sit, it's being taken out on Mims.

You can't tell me that any of Cole, Smith or Berrios make a better perimeter receiver than Mims. Berrios should be inactive with crowder/Moore returning punts. One of the tight ends should be inactive. Have no idea why we're carrying 4

Isn't Cole on a one year contract? We need Mims to step-up.

special teams isn't BS. saleh said the WR5 and WR6 spots are for boyer. he picked smith and berrios for special teams. smith is the starting gunner and berrios is the returner. the top 4 WRs picked by the coaches are moore, davis, crowder, and cole. davis moore and crowder all have specific roles and plays drawn up for them. cole is the primary backup to all 3 since he can play inside and outside and knows the playbook. that leaves mims the odd man out. If he wants playing time he has to earn it by beating out the people in front of him mentally and physically.

also you want berrios to be the odd man out? one of the top returners in the league who never muffed a punt and our leading receiver on the year? berrios has 12 catches for 124 yards, davis has 7 for 105. no other receiver has more then 5 catches or 50 yards. clearly zach is comfortable with berrios and he's reliable. when crowder comes back those targets will go to him but ti makes no sense to have berrios inactive. jeff smith would be the one he has to beat to be active and even then he won't see the field much. smith had like 3 snaps at WR. it's clear the way our offense is run that the top 3 are getting pretty much all the snaps.
