Eventhough washington is old he is still one of the best NT in the NFL. If we could get him that is one less thing that we would have to worry about in the draft

This would be killer. The man is a whale, knows how to tie up blockers and would be cheap.

    Do it up front office.

Donnie Henderson said last year if we gave him a big 300lb NT Dewayne Robertson would be in the Pro-Bowl no problem.

We better be staying with a 4-3 then. Ted Washington is too old and doesn't have enough left in him to play nose in a 3-4 consistantly.

    maybe this year....

but then next year we'll have to look for another one.

i say we may as well get someone young now that will gel with the D; and that someone is Kemo.

    cheers

You switch it up constantly between 4-3 and 3-4...gives him a breather

Why not. He won't be too expensive and knows the scheme somewhat. Can be a teacher....

And Mawae is off the team now, which makes Ted happy haha.

Washington is just amazing. Definitely one of the best NT's in the league. Run-stuffing starts up front, that's for sure. Hopefully, Mangini can bring him in based on the Pats connection.

i still don't understand what the point is.

when we're ready to contend in, let's say, 2 years, Washington will be done.

So what's the point of paying for him now rather than signing a young guy who'll still be here (in 2 years), completely cohesive with the rest of the D?

    cheers

Why would you want him when you could sign a 27 year old 350lb NT Ma'aeke Keomatu. At this point Washington is on the decline as does not have the many years left in his career.

you guys make it sound like he has a tough job if he comes. all he would here to do keep vilma clean and free up D rob. and tackle the occasional rb that runs into his belly. so basicaly all he has to do is be fat and be in the way of olineman

Washington, even at his age, is much better than McGlockton.

Even though we won't be a real competitor next year, if we got Washington, Robertson could have a monster year.

First of all, we could draft an NT in round 3 or 4. Ted could teach the system to the draftee and a guy like Pouha too. It's not a bad idea.

As for comparing it to Chester... Chester was never half the NT Washington was.

Washington is just flat out dominant and not at the decline of his career. He won't make a ton of tackles, be lucky if he can get a single sack, but he will take up space and allow guys like Robertson, Ellis, and Vilma to be able to play much better. IMO, this is a no-brainer signing. He isn't too old.
