Mac did nothing special today. And he didn’t have to because Zach was bad today. And he arguably had the 2nd worse play of the game when he had intentional grounding when he weirdly spiked the ball when he could have just threw the ball literally 3 more yards. Took them out of FG range. I wasn’t impressed…was overall bad QB play specifically from Zach. Let’s see how he rebounds.
Well said! It is amazing how some people actually thought the Jets would be decent and win games this year. Rookie QBs will always have ups and downs, but you are a blind homer if you do not think the last 2 picks by Zach do not raise some concerns, they were brutal.
Ok. Whatever you want to believe that’s your opinion. Bottom line Zach made way more mistakes and looked horrible in many occasions. Mac while not spectacular made few mistakes, but matched the team down several times. Including TDs. Zach zero TDs. That’s a fact and we’ll have to bite our tongues and see what Zach brings us next week.
how can you be STARTING to think anything after 2 games? We werent sure what we had with Sam going into his third YEAR. If your starting to think that after 17 games MAYBE i can see that, but after 2 its silly.
Skill position players are not quite there for Zach yet. Pair that with a shaky OL and don't expect miracles. Funny thing is the RB unit is looking better than the WR unit. Take any positive you can get at this point.
Let me rephrase. Mac did not play that well, but he did not have to because Zach played worse. To think from the game that Mac will be the better QB in the future is a big stretch.
He had one more TD than we did. Four interceptions in the same game is not acceptable even for a rookie. Even if we lose the game you bench the guy before he has a chance to do it a fifth time. I don't even care who the backup is at that point. No one is saying to pull the plug at this point but please stop trying to whitewash what happened today.
Yeah the excuses are ridiculous. Trevor played a normal struggling rookie on a bad team game. Zach played like Nathan Peterman.
im not he was horribly bad today, but i still dont pull him. I dont think it helps. The more he plays the better it is for him. He can only go up from here lol.
Darnolds first game against the pats he had 5 turnovers and was shutout, and Sanchez has 2 games with 4 or more picks his rookie season. You're going off the hinge and facts don't seem relevant.
dont be surprised to see Trevor have a game like today as well and also for Zach to soon be the struggling rookie on a bad team.
I agree and I have not written him off yet. Yes can’t really based him on just 2 games. At the same time where is the so call football IQ intelligence, so call guy that can scramble and so call arm accuracy? Sure part of the growing s pains for a rookie and said last week that we re going to have to stick with him for a while. I can take the growing pains with the rookie and won’t give up on him, but what I’ve see so far I am not seeing anything (yet) where I can sit back and say, “ok , the kid has an arm”, “the kid doesn’t make too many mistakes”. “Ok at least he can get out of the pocket and scramble”. He looked lost. And over matched. Can he rebound? Absolutely.
The last rookie to throw 4 picks in a half of football was Nathan Peterman in 2017 (5 actually). Remember that guy on the Bills? The one we made fun of their fans mercilessly about?
