I don't know if we polled our members here, but I do recall I was in the minority in wanting to keep Sam and trade the #2 for a slew of picks. Some fans here threatened to disavow the Jets and not follow them any longer if they didn't take another QB at #2. I said at the time that the only QB that I would take over Sam was Trevor Lawrence based on his being a generational QB and his 3 years at Clemson. No other QB had the background, and all had lots of questions about their ability to make it in the NFL. For me, it was Trevor Lawrence or just keep Sam and trade the #2. I pray to God I turn out wrong.
I was there too. Not trading that pick for a bounty is going to be the biggest mistake that Douglas makes as the GM of this team.
Probably too early to say I told you so, but Ouchy and I both repeatedly urged on this message board to keep Sam and trade the #2 for more picks. Sorry, I think Wilson has looked terrible BOTH weeks. Forget about the garbage time last week, he has started BOTH games looking like crap. In addition to the all the INT today, he overthrew Carter on a safety valve today when Carter had nobody near him and 20 yards ahead of him.
Really?? In the second game, we've already given up on Wilson. I understand the frustration as I've been a Jets fan my entire life, but this is stupid.
Mirage. Think about it. There is no reason to expect that we will see a different Zach Wilson next week. He's not going to learn more in the next week than he has so far. What the Jets need to do is either get a viable backup QB to replace him when he screws up or alternately make an organizational commitment to actually putting Mike White on the field for a series here and there when Zach really needs some time off (time out) to think about why he is not playing the series. John Elway got pulled repeatedly his rookie season because he just wasn't getting the fact that his extraordinary ability wasn't going to automatically succeed in the NFL. Every really bad throw got him some time off the field to think about it. The Jets really need to do the same thing with Wilson or they will ruin him in record time, maybe by mid-season.
No one is Giving up, that's ridiculous....just holding accountable which again is totally acceptable and understandable, and pretty fukin refreshing if you ask me. When Darnold did it, it's oh he sucked but now it's Oh that's not fair we're rebuilding and the funny part is we agree. But to say it for one qb and not another is the hypocrisy. The JETS are the only team in a rebuild who blow it up to rebuild......again.
it is impossible for me to give up on the Jets because to give up on them I would have had to have had some faith in them in the first place - I just always assume that they are going to be terrible and make the wrong choices and so far they haven't really ever proven me to be wrong
Wilson is not suddenly going to get it. He’s a high risk deep ball thrower who albeit is very talented but will take alot of time to adjust to the league. He’s probably not ready to start.
Darnold didn't play like that in his second game either. He just looked like a typical rookie. Darnold's time with the Jets was up. It was clear that both parties needed to move on.
They should have had him sit his first season, as the Chiefs did with Mahomes (not saying he is going to be anything like Mahomes!)
