Can he take a hit...Took multiple hits all day long, & got up and played fearlessly as shown in this video
he makes a pinpoint accurate throw knowing he was about to get hit.

Can he handle pressure...all day he was under pressure and he showed he did well evading
pass rush considering. He held on to the ball to long at times, but that is easily fixable.

Is the game to big for him... it was a rough go in the first half for the whole offense but the game seemed to slow down a bit for Zach in the second half. With any resemblance of a running game & pass protection, he will ball out.

Questions are answered in this throw

Come to think of it...when was the last time you saw Sam throw for 2 scores & 250+ yards in a game as a Jet. Zac in one game showed more than Sam all last season with an equally bad O-line & running game. Anyone who thinks letting Sam go was a mistake because of the fact that he beat us in Carolina is wrong. Captain check-down did nothing to show he is better in his 4th year than Zach in his first. It's only one game but the future looks bright for us if we can fix our o-line woes. Switch Zach & Sam & we loose that game 30+ to 0.

It was one drop pass from being an easy 300..

    Good post.

I think Zach will continue to impress... as long as he isn't buried under D-linemen.

It's tough to get a good pass off with a 300 lb. tackle chewing on your neck...

I don’t question Zach’s talent, or his guts, or his intelligence one bit.
It looks like it’s all there. BUT …

He looked like a little boy standing next to Sam after the game, and it concerns me.
We better learn how to block … and hopefully he’ll put on a little mass over the next few years.
Maybe similar to Brees, who wasn’t a big man, but still built a strong frame.

That's because Sam is a converted linebacker and Zach has a rich uncle...

Sam did it three times as a rookie, including a 341-yard/3 TD game. He did it four times in his second year, including a 293-yard/4 TD game.

Last year he didn't manage it once. He really did show a lot of promise before fizzling out. We've all seen the arguments for each side, but he did show ability. Let's see if things go better with Zach.

Zach and Sam had very similar height and weight predraft. Zach's pre draft weight was 7 lbs less than Darnold and an inch shorter.

All of the QB's the Jets have drafted and started right off the bat have looked good for the first couple of games.

Literally all of them, Sanchez, Geno Smith, Sam Darnold and Zach. It's what happens after people get film on them that is the problem.

I just looked again and I stand corrected.
Sam still had his helmet on, and the camera angle wasn’t straight on.
    I feel better now. Thanks!

Not to beat a dead horse, but after seeing last weeks punishment he took, I wonder if he
    A) survives the season, B) gets happy feet from so much pressure and so may hits game after game, or C) Becomes yet another in a litany of ruined Jet QB's because the FO wouldn't or couldn't find OL talent to protect him.

Some people seem to think that think this weeks game is going to be easier? This is going to get ugly if they can't block anyone which has been the norm for 3+ years. I think that "seeing ghosts" game was what ruined Sam Darnold here, or at least started his ruination. He never was quite the same after that. The good thing is, Zack may be too short to see the ghosts over the entire NE DL coming at him LOL.

Can you refresh my memory for me? List the litany of QB's the Jets have ruined.

No one I've seen or heard has said this week's game will be easier. Where do you get that?

I do think we're all concerned about Zach taking a beating, especially from the Patriots, given what we saw them do to Sam. I believe Zach is far better equipped to deal with whatever they throw him, but that's not to say he's Superman and can just take unlimited punishment. Saleh LaFleur MUST figure out a better way to protect him. Part of that is figuring out how to get the running game working. There's a LOT to fix from last week's game.

All bright stars extinguished by the Jets organization! I'd like to add Geno Smith to the list!

I think Laflour over estimated the o-line. They played so well in preseason he felt he could trust them in pass protection so he didn't scheme the offense to deal with a dominate pass rush. He should have come out with quick slants and getting the ball out quick. Hope he learns from last week.

    D) Wilson overcomes the OL issues because he’s a stud.
    E) Wilson isn’t short
    F) Sam Darnold wasn’t ruined, he’s just not that good.
