I didn’t walk away from the game as disappointed as I thought I was goi g to at halftime. We’re a different team in the 2nd half(nice for a change) Wilson seems very resilient. Doesn’t hold onto mistakes . He’s very promising if the o-line doesn’t get him killed.
That hit Wilson took late in the 4th was brutal. Looking on the sideline after that play, he looked wired looking around. I was really worried he suffered a concussion. This kid is going to be special. I’m just afraid he may take too many hits to the head this season.
Cory Davis is a legit wr1. Amendola made the first half entertaining B Hall still trending upwards Wilson didn’t look out of place
This team played a lot more solid and disciplined than they ever did under Gase, Bowles, or Ryan. I knew we were getting too excited too quickly. I didn't see a pathetic, badly led team out there today. I saw a team that's still rebuilding and has weaknesses it needs to address. Even if they suck this year, I still have hope.
One thing I learned today was, Zach Wilson can take a hit. He did look a little loopy but gathered himself and got the play off. In the future, Zach will learn how to just get rid of the ball instead of getting blasted. Pain is a helluva teacher.
Also, Wilson's use of TEs Griffin and Kroft was very refreshing (3 rec each), considering the recent debacle at that position.
Wilson didn't get a season ending injury despite playing behind an O-line that seems to have picked up where it left off last year (i.e. playing abysmally)
Hero syndrome can wreck a young QB. David Carr's teammates were very impressed by how he got up and shook off each hit and kept going. However the cumulative impact on him was much greater than he let on and eventually heroism turns into fatalism. Ken O'Brien had a more successful but ultimately similar journey through his career.
Zach was impressive. He remained composed in the pocket despite having to run for his life for the entire first half, he also dropped a few dimes but wasn't helped out by his receivers. The interception was a mistake but you're going to get those with a young rookie QB. Had some serious zip on his throws and his navigation inside the pocket and throwing on the run looked good. Becton is very concerning. He got beat a few times and got injured, looks to be just a sprain but he needs to play better. With him out of the game the team looked better. Ammendola is a stud. This is a young team, they're gonna get better by getting in the reps together. Nobody expects us to make the playoffs we just want progress and progress is what we made. This team is far better than last year.
The good is the team, specifically Wilson but also the defense and others, didn't look like they quit when they got their dick kicked in for an entire half. That became a staple at the end of the Bowles era into Gase's full two years. Wilson also threw an absolute dime to Elijah Moore early in the game that needs to be caught and changes the complexion of the entire game.
I liked that, specifically that we saw some of the Ryan Griffin from 2 seasons ago. We may not get a lot out of the TE position, but it won't be a total detriment to the passing game.
Moore had a rough rookie debut, felt like every pass that came his way he dropped, hopefully just a learning curve type of thing and he gets better.
I think we should keep this guy even if he's bad at field goals. After today I'm not so sure he couldn't play middle linebacker if the situation arose.
