And I remember when ESPN and other talking tools were telling the Football world how Trevor Lawrence should return to Clemson in order to avoid the Jets. But now look. It's the Jets with an awesome GM in Joe Douglass who's given us... • A real Football Head Coach in Robert Saleh (instead of a gimmick NCAA coach). • a Franchise LT in Mekhi Becton. • A cornerstone LG in Alijah Vera-Tucker. • 5 exciting WRs in Corey Davis, Elijah Moore (who JAX passed on for an injury prone CB), Denzel Mims, Jamison Crowder and Keelan Cole. • Quinnen Williams to build an entire Defense around (well thanks to Macc on that one). • 7 draft picks throughout the first 4 rounds come 2022 ala two 1st round picks, two 2nd round picks, one 3rd round pick and two 4th round picks (in comparison to JAX who's only got 4 picks ala one 1st, one 2nd, one 3rd and only one 4th). • along with $62M in available FA salary cap space (in comparison to JAX only having $32M) come 2022's Free Agency. etc. etc. And you mean to tell me that they told us how Trevor Lawrence should've returned to Clemson to avoid the Jets, but not the Jaguars? And now they've got a clown HC admitting things that he shouldn't have admitted to the public about vaccinations?
It's one thing to consider it. It's another to publicly say it when you're dealing with a union. I think it's relatively understood that the NFL and it's teams want players vaccinated. If you're a fringe player, you'd be a bonehead not to get it just as a career move alone.
The moment when a new Head Coach opens his mouth before engaging his brain, he's not the first and he won't be the last.
Urban clearly hasn't figured out how to be an NFL coach off the sidelines. If he's great on the sidelines it might not matter, but it's hard to see the Jags being anything but terrible. It's going to be difficult for him to build up lots of good will in the fanbase if Lawrence doesn't look great, even if it's because the rest of the team is terrible, and that kind of criticism is (based on his history) something he does not handle well. I still make it at least 50/50 that he isn't the coach in 2022.
I think it is really going to depend on how Lawrence looks. If the Jacksonville offense is moving and scoring points but Lawrence is also throwing picks and the defense is not good, well that's the Peyton Manning rookie season scenario all over again. OTOH if the offense just isn't clicking, well it's easy to see Meyer packing it in and heading off to less stressful climes.
If USC flops and fires their coach, Urban Meyer would be gone from Jacksonville either way... whether he does well in Jax or not.
It’s common knowledge that part of NE’s reason for cutting Cam was his vaccination status, but no ones investigating that I see.
Not for nothing but Belichick has a tendency not to blab about that stuff to the media. Unwritten rules and all that. Urban Meyer is doing a great job of drawing a target on his own back.
Urban Meyer hasn't attempted a rush against the Texans in the first quarter. The worst rushing defense in the league.
He must have deduced that Dan Arnold is the secret sauce in the Sam Darnold Special. It's amazing. It's like he's 10 moves ahead of everyone.
