They're getting someone off the waiver wire. They needed to keep an extra slot available for Davis today, so Davis has to make the 53 before they put him on IR (or they can't get him back during the season). Then tomorrow, they get the waived TE and put Davis on IR.
that would be a nice move to make. A TE is great for a young QBs development. Ertz is a standup guy that would help Wilson and everyone on that offense

it's possible they think he'll clear waivers and when he does they'll resign him after adding davis to IR. But more likely they just feel he isn't ready or god enough yet and will just try and practice squad him. catching 1 hail mary in preseason doesn't make someone good. David tyree had one of if not the best catch all time in the superbowl and was unemployed 2 years later and never recorded another catch after that
If he became Jeff Cumberland he'd at least be the second best tightend on the roster and the second best we've had since Keller went to the Phins.
reports are jeff smith is making the roster. that means we keep 7 or berrios is gone. Jets like his versatility. 4.34 speed and can throw the ball on trick plays. we seen him used in jet sweeps in the preseason. Likely we use it regular season and maybe have him throw it once or twice in a trick play
he had some nice runs on those jet sweeps too…but gotta think that’s Moore in those plays. Jeff another burner for specials too
