It’s reasonable to expect ups and downs from the rookie. How he bounces back from the bad showings is what I’m interested to see in his development. It appears to be the real deal we all been waiting for.
Yeah, Carolina isn't terrible and their "D" isn't all that bad. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets lose, but I'm expecting Zach to outplay Sam and make the game close if not an outright win.
I am not optimistic that we can stop McCaffrey, Moore and Anderson. I am afraid they will torch our defense and blow us out. Young LBs trying to keep up with McCaffrey and Anderson and Moore against young corners could be ugly. The question to me is can we stop the run, put Sam in 3rd and long and get a rush on Sam. If no to those 3 I expect to be blown out.
If that happens, I expect Zach to be able to keep us in the game - more or less. But if that happens, the risk of him over-trying and either making more mistakes or worse, getting hurt, rise also. Where I find encouragement to counter that is from how Zach has handled himself so far, and he hasn't tried to play hero ball, and in his interviews he's very level-headed. I'm not alone in sitting on pins and needles in anticipation of seeing what Zach and this team are really made of.
I would feel a lot more confident about this game if it was later in the year. It is a really tough way to open the season against a potentially explosive offense. The schedule maker never seems to give us any favors.
that doesnt make too much sense. If youre afraid of a potentially explosive offense then week 1 is the best time to play them while they work out the kinks
The question to me is can we pressure Sam enough to make him uncomfortable. Also, our running game needs to click. I don't want the game to be on Wilson's shoulder with a last minute come from behind long pass.
We are an extremely young team with very young lbs and cbs as well as a rookie QB with an OL that has not played much together. I would expect our young players to have a lot of hiccups and growing pains. This 1st week i can see our young LBs being susceptible to big plays by McCaffrey as well as our cbs having the same problem with Anderson and Moore. This would be a much better matchup for us once our young players get a bit of experience.
I’ve been following some of the Panthers beat, and their offensive line has even more issues than ours. I expect we will stuff the box, stop the run, blitz the $HIT out of Sam, and force him to throw intermediate and deep routes. We may get burned once or twice, but can also see Sam throwing an interception or two. So I see a 24-17 Jets victory, with an up/down day for Zach. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Gotta say I'm not a fan of One Jets Drive 2021. There were many compelling storylines for the team this season and I know the turf is important and on some occasions interesting, but I don't understand why on the final episode I found myself listening to the grounds keeper drone on about the benefits of Kentucky blue grass.
What would you expect for him? A third-rounder, maybe a 2nd if a team lost a good WR to injury week 1?
I don't know? He is a slot WR on a 1 year rental but with a good salary. A 4th sounds very good. Although Herndon and a 6th brought back a 4. It all depends on need. A team with an injury like the Eagles could offer a 3? I would think for the Jets to consider trading him it would have to be at least a 4. If we are the one shopping him I would say a 5 but if it's someone coming to us then maybe a 3 is more likely?
