We'd have been better off drafting Rosen on the 6 than trading 3 high 2nds to move up for Darnold. That's with all the failing that has gone on since then. We *never* learn. Ever.
Agree. In hindsight we should have stood pat and took Josh Allen. Or trade down, and take Lamar Jackson. Which would have never happened. I was happy we got Darnold, but was NOT happy giving up 3 2nd rounders to do so. Thought he was not that much better than the others. Turns out he wasn’t! One of the many mistakes from McCangdumb. Lol
I believe the Jets traded up for Mayfield at 3. They wanted him for the same reason the Browns did, believing he was the best combination of personality and talent for a weak rebuilding team.
Rosen sucks but I feel like many are sleeping on Trey Lance. Was watching the NFL network earlier and they were talking about the reported QB battle in San Francisco. How is that even a battle? Jimmy Garoppolo sucks and the 49ers MOVED UP to take Trey at #3. This is a team 2 years removed from a SB trip with a bad quarterback. Trey is going to feast in that offense. I wish I had vBucks to bet cause I'd bet them all on Trey winning the ROY this year. Too many weapons and the perfect situation to come into. If you look at all the other first round QBs they have it much worse.
Yep, Trey Lance lucked into the rare and nearly unprecedented situation of a playoff caliber team trading into the top 5 to draft a QB. Even if he doesn't end up having a high a ceiling as they think he does, he'll still get to develop a lot more easily than any of the other QBs. He'll definitely have the most immediate success I think.
Not saying he'll have the level of success Mahomes has had, but the situation Lance is going into reminds me a lot of what the Chiefs had when they traded up their QB of the future.
Josh Rosen to the Falcons - his fifth team in four years https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/...-10-pick-headed-to-his-fifth-team-per-report/ AJ McCarron sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee for the Atlanta Falcons during Saturday’s preseason game versus the Miami Dolphins.
Cut by the Browns today. His career makes Darnold and Mayfield look like Hall of Famers. This has got to be it, right?
He's got a career ahead of him at Goldman Sachs no doubt. I really liked him as a prospect until about a month before the draft. He started playing the humility card and saying things like "I'll do this until they find out I suck." Soon as I heard that I turned off. I don't like the braggarts who talk themselves up a lot but the flip side of the coin is worse.
