Lost in all of this is the ever-persistent Braxton Berrios in his first practice back and against another team, and he blows a hole in the back of the Packers defense for a TD with the 1's. That 6th WR spot isn't a given for anyone.
The way the receiver room is right now. Someone like mims being able to go on the returnable ir wouldn’t have been a bad thing really
Bryce Huff, Vinny Curry, John-Franklin Myers, and Ronald Blair. Blair is really intriguing to me. He played well under Saleh in San Fran. Could be a sleeper that does well in this system
Even though he supposedly played a zone blocking scheme in college doesn't mean it's exactly the same, and again, the player around him are different. Not trying to make excuses, just pointing out that there may be more than him just not being in shape/overweight, etc. going on. The sacks are a concern, but they're also helpful for the OL to learn what they need to do better. Now they need to do it better!
This is the second time blowing out his Achilles on the same knee. Man should take his 30 million guaranteed and walk away.
I think you may have confused the ACL with the Achilles tendon. One is in the knee and one is at the back of the ankle.
Well. It took me a while to catch on news... wow. Being a Jets really sucks sometimes...Lawson down already..... as for Becton, Lafleur said he's dealing with something... could be anything like a distraction... family member hurts or whatever. Never know. I don't think it is weight related. The overweight comments were around OTAs when he had Plantar fasciitis. By the time TC hit he was in superb shape. There was even a video of him that showed he was in top shape... he is used to playing at a heavier weight which could be an issue, he will need to learn to use his agility more and his bulk less. On top of that he switched schemes and is in his first real training camp. Couple that with the fact some of these sacks (4 on day 1) came in the inside where his guard is supposed to be and that his guard is a joke back up who probably shouldn't be on the team... Well my point is there are a lot of factors.
Saleh said several weeks ago that he wanted to see some adversity to see how the team would respond. I hated when he said it, because I feared his wish would come true. Well, now he's got adversity. Let's see how he likes it and how he deals with it. It could be a real rallying point for the team. Between the death of Knapp and the loss of Lawson, it could really bring this team together and make them gel quickly. Let's hope so!
Lawson wasn't the only player lost for the season today. Zane Lewis also went down with a season-ending injury. He may not have made the team anyway, but has had a pretty darned good camp. https://jetswire.usatoday.com/2021/...ewis-carl-lawson-denzel-mims-sheldon-rankins/ Zane Lewis to miss 2021 season, multiple Jets exit Thursday's practice Tyler Greenawalt August 19, 2021 4:11 pm ET Update August 19, 2021, 5:06 p.m. EST: S Zane Lewis, who tore his patella tendon and suffered a sprained MCL, will miss the 2021 season, the Jets announced.
