There is plenty of time to work on things during certain parts of practice in all sports. When your team had live competitive scrimmages I doubt you were solely trying to hit the ball the other way because it's simulated game action.

I liked Wilson's answer because it was diplomatic and handled well while the media reports have been somewhat negative. It showed maturity + poise. I don't truly believe that during full team periods he's really trying to "see what he can get away with." Even in full team sessions the game moves too fast to consciously see if you can fit a ball into a bad spot. He's trying to complete passes during those periods.

He would be "working" on things in 7 on 7's and individual positional workouts which take up most of the beginning of practices for NFL teams.

I think the frustrating part for fans is that Mims should be pretty much locked in as the X/Z at this point, regardless of what his off-season was like.

Example - do you really think guys like Jarvis Landry and Allen Robinson were working in with the 3's going into their second year?

I don't think this is anything extremely damning to his career quite yet, but it's reasonable to wonder why he's pretty much not a mainstay with the ones.

Saleh's quote is coach-speak. He's a positive guy who will talk to the media and is a players coach. He's not like Gruden or Zimmer where they're damn near willing to say yeah this guy kinda sucks and needs to do better.

Totally agree JV. I had high hopes for Mims, and still do. The 2 hammy stains and now the food poisoning doesn't help. I'm not writing him off just yet, but he needs to show something this year.

I get it, especially since you didn't/don't believe in the blueprint created by Douglas, but while I accept your right to be skeptical, I disagree. The talent on this team vs. last year is night and day better, and especially at QB and the skill positions. I stuck with Darnold even though I STILL moan about Macc apparently skipping over Mahomes and Watson because he thought Darnold was better, but after seeing LOTS of tape on Wilson, I could clearly see that Zach was far more accurate than Sam will ever be, and far more capable off platform. With all of that, it made the most sense to me to switch from Sam to Zach. I wish Darnold all the best, and feel bad that he was screwed by the Jets with the two CS he played for, but it's about winning and improving, not sentiment.

As for all the speculation about what the Jets MIGHT have been able to get for trading the #2 pick, who can say. My opinion is that they got the best QB available, the best IOL available, and a great WR and RB, so I don't know how much better they could have done.

Watching Connor Hughes on YouTube live right now.

Remarking on how smart Saleh is running the training camp by knowing when to ramp up intensity and lower intensity. Lack of injuries and no fights. First time he's seen somehting like this at the Jets training camp in 10+ years

Talking about Wilson and some insight.

The first 7 days of camp they had scripted plays he was working on. They now have pulled the plug on the script and are running real time plays learning the system live in every huddle. Not knowing what play is coming until Lafleur raidos it in.

Pair that with the struggles of the offensive line with AVT out, it's a lot for him to take in and learn.

He said that there was one play in particular where Wilson evaded the rush and flicked his wrist with a throw on the run that traveled down the field with ease. All Tyler Kroft had to do was open his hands and the ball was placed absolutely perfect. He said if he had caught it, it would have been the talk of the town everywhere.

there was one where he hit moore for an 80 yard TD (ball was about 55-60 yards in air, where he stepped up and threw while jumping against his body and it was a little short of where it could have been (moore had to slow down a little) but still impressive nonetheless

I do like the way he tosses the ball.
    Comes off his hand fluidly.

Who knows...he may end up throwing the prettiest ints. this year...

I mean really would mims have been any higher then 4th anyway? Crowder in the slot, Davis is your #1 and Cole was really the guy who impressed enough with the staff to move into the #2 slot. During that time it was found out that Mims had food poisoning. Even so, he wasn’t exactly a finished product. Also Moore bursting out the gate as fast as he did really put Mims as the 5th on the depth chart.

    Owen Wilson.
